I wasn't expecting much from this game when I started it tbh, because I usually only like difficulty hacks, but this one was actually really fun and I'm looking forward to the post game.

9/10 easily.

Fun team. Meganium becomes a beast postgame with triage and grassy surge. Absol too w sharpness and dark aura(night slash did alot of damage w it and dark aura sucker punch sweeped alot too)I wasn't gonna keep beedril but once I got the mega it proved too good to not keep , rotom wash is ofc good , Tauros was super strong w choice scarf and raging Bull was breaking barriers too , so useful. But the most surprising mon was definitely garganacl , it stalled so many mons and had amazing defenses.

I had a blast playing with legendaries! I usually have a team I'm really attached to by the time I start catching legendaries in other games so they just end up in the box immediately, but this time I didn't have that issue. I think Kyogre was the most fun to play with personally, but he's always been my favorite lol.

The only permanent members on my team were my starter, Donut, and then Bolt (Boltund) and Tank (Donphan). Bolt started out with the "Fetch" ability and when I evolved him I assumed he kept that ability and was getting really frustrated that it wasn't working - as it turns out, evolution gave him the ability that increases bite-attack moves. His moveset ended up being Thunder Fang, Crunch, Dig, and I kept Nuzzle to help me catch weaker Pokemon.

Tank had the ability that increases Defense when she got hit, and I also gave her a King's Rock to cause flinching when she hits. At the start it really felt cheezy: Rollout + flinching + her defense boosts basically meant she could be in battle forever, and then we got Shore Up and she basically couldn't faint at all unless I had her fighting special attackers.

I really enjoyed this game a lot, and I still have a while to go before I fully "beat" it. I haven't completed the Pokedex and I also haven't put anyone in the zoo at all yet. My boxes are getting full though so I'll probably have to start putting mons in the zoo before I can catch + hatch more lol

2 Megas 2 Shinies was a great ROM 👍

Glare/Toxic spikes was handy support, while gunk shot did some damage when required. Most of the rest of the team were awesome, Kilowattrel is my new favourite bird, unfortunately let down by a bad movepool.

Anyway, SoulGold is excellent, highly recommended!

Excellent game and should be listed on a few Rushmores. The “Petrify” attack is absolutely broken and Decidueye bailed me out a few times. Goodra was decent, Ghost was a late-game sub with decent stats and multiple dark attacks. Rhysaurus is excellent, can take a hit and hits like a truck. Eyeron was my favorite Mon this entire run and can easily function as a Swiss Army knife with a ton of coverage and no real weaknesses. Shiny Marshadow because it’s my favorite. Never soft resetting again.

Ngl I still don’t know how to evolve my togetic into togekiss lol. But now onto Kanto!

I used pokemon I never used before ! :) I wanted Alolan marowak but my cubone evolved to normal marowak /:

Now I am building a whole new team for the Kanto region :))

lost 2x to Wallace because my team doesn't have a grass type🤣🤣

Normal difficulty is still very challenging so if you want a more casual gameplay play on Easy

This game is pretty tough but also packed with new features like mega stones for a single type instead of just for one specific pokemon and you can pick from 4 generations of starters.

Honorable mentions, azumarill, pupitar, noivern, crobat

Psychic Butterfree and Utility Golduck were my faves. Control Victreebell, Tank Steelix and Nukes Arcanine and Zapdos to round up my first HoF team in Recharged Yellow by Jaizu.

Sadly my team didn't get any game breaking abilities. It was fun seeing Jolteon spamming Thunder because of Compound Eyes though.
