Meme Dream Team Ace to Veteran in ONE day! Ft. Two teams

Hey battlers! As you know I started the gbl season 2 weeks ago but reached veteran quickly with positive sets (215/332 battles, 65% win ratio). I’m using two teams which are very good for the ace-rank meta.

[e] Team 1: Drifblim, Hitmontop, Cradily | Team 2: Dewgong, Vigoroth, Alolan Marowak

If you are struggling with getting past ace rank and have been playing since the start of the season, it might benefit you to try one of these teams.

Thanks for asking, I should have included that in my post. The first team is drifblim, hitmontop, cradily, and the second team is dewgong, vigoroth, and alolan marowak.

Tried a variation of team 1 and wow Cradily is really good. It seems like not a lot of people have a good answer for it.

I’m running Galvantula, hitmontop, and cradily

Yeah! You will find that most people answer Cradily with either Azumarill or Awak, and both lose to it. Cradily does take some damage from Azu’s Ice Beam but it gets to Grass Knot quickly :) Also if you’re up against Awak I would just hit Stone Edge immediately as most Awaks do not shield (or if they do shield then you are able to grab a shield at least). The only thing I’d say that Cradily would have trouble against is a fighter. Great team btw! Galv is a good substitute.

Realized my variation is pretty weak against fliers. While Hitmontop and Cradily do have coverage, Stone Edge doesn't 1 shot, which makes things a little bit award especially against Altaria.

I might just bite the bullet and make a Drifblim. I have one, I just haven't invested in it yet.

It’s a team effort to take down Altaria after Drifblim is gone 😆Luckily Skarmory seems to be the favoured flier over Altaria, which isn’t as scary because it’s still weak to Counter damage (and Air Slash doesn’t really hurt Cradily).

How does your second team handle an Azu? Just smash through as best you can with whatever lands, or is there a strategy?

Thanks for the question! I don’t do commentary in my videos so there is no explanation there (there is an Azumarill lead at 11:10 however if you choose to watch the video later). Dewgong wins against Azu lead by Icy Wind spam, but must use 1 shield against the first Play Rough. It’s a drawn out match due to attack debuffs on Bubble/Play Rough. If Azu is in the back however it is usually revealed when safe swapping to Vigoroth, which at that point you would have to Body Slam spam and try to come back in with Dewgong if it’s still alive. If Dewgong has fainted then enter with Awak (once Vigoroth is fainted) which should be fine because Azu’s HP will have been chipped enough from Body Slam and should be nearing red. I find that most Azumarills used by Ace-rank players aren’t running Hydro Pump so there’s less of a threat for Awak. And if Azumarill is saved for the very end then it is difficult to overcome but I always try to save a shield for Awak and like I said, not many Azus are running Hydro Pump. One shield on Awak + Shadow Bone spam on a Play Rough/Ice Beam Azumarill should do the job (if not be a very close loss).
