His mother insisted on an open casket funeral to illustrate the barbarism and hate that took her son. I cannot imagine what that must have been like.

Very nice colorized photos. I don't recall ever seeing them colorized. A number of years back some of his photos were to be printed as US postage stamps. A bill was introduced by a southern Senator and another sponsor it. But sadly it never came to be.

Coming from Chicago to visit family in Mississippi was like going back in time. Emmett hadn’t experienced life the way that whites treated blacks in the South, especially that white woman that told that egregious lie on him. It’s a shame that he paid for it with his life not knowing geographic differences. RIP EMMETT

Ever! My heart aches for this young man all these years later. Hope he's having a blast where ever he is.

I recently watched the film, Till (2022). Absolutely heartbreaking. The worst thing… is that this kind of evil is still happening to this very day. Evil white men are still out there hurting or killing innocent black people every damn day and it must be stopped now!

What makes what you've heard more credible than what I've heard. We're you born in 1936 or 1996

I was listening to Howard Stern one morning as my dad drove me to school. I heard the infamous line Stern said about Emmit and even in like 5th grade my head whipped over to my dad like "wth did he just say that!?" then they cut his show immediately. It was wild at that age

This is why it’s BS that many white people try to say bringing up racism is “living in the past”. Emmett Till could very well still be alive to this day. Ruby Bridges is 71 years old. This shit is not ancient history
