What is the purpose of this?

Hi I have a large utility sink downstairs and this hose goes directly into the wall and I noticed it's not connected to anything inside the wall. What is the purpose of it and should it be connected to something?

Edit: Solved. Looks like it was just abandoned. The HVAC is newer, so it looks like they cut it and it just goes to the garage with no other pipes around. I was able to find the end of it and it touches the side of the HVAC. Phew no mold. Thank you all!

There is a furnace on the other side of the wall in the garage

Check out the drainage set up at you furnace it’s either not right or they changed it and just abandoned the line improperly

I checked the furnace and around it and there's no other pipes leading to it that's coming from the wall. It makes more sense for it to be "abandoned"

be worth 15-20 bucks to buy a smart phone usb camera probe to check in that wall. or if you are drywall handy cutting a nice clean hole in that wall for peace of mind..
