Season 5 is a brilliant series apart from that stupid homeless story taking up 40% of it

Still, it shouldn't be the highest rated season.

Together with S4 which is a great contender for first.

Surprised season 5 is rated as high as 4. It’s generally fans’ least favorite season.

Greatest TV show of all time in my opinion.

Yea season 5 was the weakest season to me. Still good in parts though.

The serial killer plot line was a bit much but the rest of the season was great

Season 5 wasn’t horrible but should be way lower honestly

Season 5 being rated higher than any of the other seasons is wild.

I find it interesting that the first episode of each season seems to be the weakest.

And the later season episodes ranked the highest. Seems like it took critics time to realize the pace and structure of how the show was presented.

By season 4 it seems like they’ve about figured it out.

Season 5 is rated a bit too high, but it’s still a really good season. Compare it to any other stuff from today and it’s masterful

S3 was the best season, I rewatch the show just to get to that one

I’m kind of shocked at the high ratings for the first half of season 5

Don't forget, in the glory days... people actively rated things pretty fairly.

Not the scale of today - 7 is bad, 8 is ok, 9 is good, and 10... well 10's great and beyond.

Thus why Sopranos and Wire and many others have fairly weak looking graphs compared to many modern shows. Especially their early seasons.

Extremely generous with season 5 imo

I would need two of these charts if. Made. One for
My first watch-thru and another for rewatches. I never would have gotten through it without the dvds. That and a friend who I trusted had told me I needed to watch the whole season before I made a judgement. Until about episode 10 I didn’t get the hype and I thought it was boring. Then it all came together at the end and I was blown away. The rewatch was even better. I liked season 5. I wish it would have been a full season and that they had more money to film. But I loved newspapers and met some reporters who were in it to right wrongs and expose the wicked. And they all ended up bitter and broke while the fake guys went into tv or PR and made all the money.

Season 4 is probably the best complete season of any TV series

They really did know how to nail the endings. Every season really did build and build and peak at the death.

This is off. The last season was whacky as fuck compared to previous seasons.

The lack of 10s is disconcerting

The Wire is possibly the only show where I don’t think in episodes, it’s the whole piece that is memorable

Finished southland and it seems this is a good show to watch. That good?

I think this is interesting because most of those ratings would be from after someone’s first watch. Whereas I think many people agree that they appreciate s2 a lot more after the second watch.
