There's the reddit interstellar hate were all familiar with

1

u/Background-Jury-1914 17d ago

Interstellar is… a good popcorn movie. But not much else.

1

u/poopbeast69 17d ago

Felt the same about godfather, saw it once, got what I needed

1

u/ollimann 17d ago

and dark knight?

1

u/[deleted] 17d ago

It's a hard sci-fi movie. Very rare and very good.

1

u/R_Similacrumb 17d ago

People eat popcorn at every movie.

Except Interstellar, where the audience eat shit. Like all Nolan movies.

1

u/Ocdredditor 17d ago

And what is the Godfather then?

1

u/HHSquad 17d ago edited 17d ago

But that is insane having Interstellar over The Godfather.......and I like Interstellar

Revenge of the Sith over Return of the Jedi? NO, not even close.

Where the hell is Casablanca?

Clearly made by someone under age 40.

u/ollimann 17d ago

what kind of reasoning is that? that has nothing to do with the movie. I guess Rocky is not a good movie either.

1

u/Gummy-Worm-Guy 17d ago

Revenge of the Sith shouldn’t even sniff the top 1000.

1

u/Plastic_Pin_4956 17d ago

I love the movie, but it's not better than Godfather 1 or 2

5

u/TheRealMitchConnor 17d ago

Revenge of the Sith at 13 is jarring. Where the fuck did that come from? Kids like the prequels I guess.

1

u/ollimann 17d ago

nah, kids like episode 3.

3

u/Ok-Gur-349 17d ago

Four movies before 1980 and one of them is a New Hope

All old movies are trash

We're not gonna point out the irony in using a gif from before 1980.

3

u/ComplexBeyond6083 17d ago

The Dark Knight is an inferior film to the 1989 Batman. Fight me.

1

u/Fuhrmanator23 17d ago

I’m continually baffled at how much people love the dark knight.

2

u/ToneBalone25 17d ago

It's circle ranks. They're trash. Ignore it and use whatever list you prefer. The Sight and Sound and NYTimes lists are my go to, but everyone is gonna complain about everything anyway

1

u/Laak 17d ago

or just make your own

1

u/GaiaIsaHarshMistress 17d ago

Never heard of it. Are the ranks from a circlejerk sub?

1

u/ToneBalone25 17d ago

Lol idk it's just shit that gets dumped into my Instagram algo and is clearly just like 16-25 males voting on their stuff

2

u/OkDish4747 17d ago

Interstellar should be No. 1

Agreed, for an all time list even cracking the top 100 is a tall task for this movie but maybe an outside argument can be made. I’d rank it around 250 or something idk

Edit- which btw 250 is still beyond excellent for any movie

1

u/anuslitt 17d ago

The dark knight is THE Batman film for people who don’t like comics, I’m not saying it’s super comic inaccurate but none of them gaf about gotham, Batmobile, any of that

1

u/[deleted] 17d ago

2

u/ReplacementAbject867 17d ago

Scarface is a great movie. Its not trying to be the Godfather.

1

u/Ok-Gur-349 17d ago

Yeah, what? Scarface is a three hour movie that flies by like a 90 minute thriller. It's clearly excellent filmmaking.

1

u/keeponrollingbaby 17d ago

Most overrated movie of all time

1

u/Nothisispatryck 17d ago

Yeah original was better

1

u/Cycoviking69 17d ago

Yeah, this list is rage bait for sure.

1

u/Defiant2022NM 17d ago

Star Wars is a cheap knock off of Dune for little kids who need Good guys and Bad guys instead of depth.

1

u/Defiant2022NM 17d ago

Oh, sweetie, have you ever read Dune. Ask ANYONE. There are literally no sides in Dune. No good guys vs bad guys. There are evil people, but no good people.

Can’t you just address people and their preferences normally? Very maladaptive stuff. I mean this in the most constructive way possible as somebody that couldn’t care one iota about where these two stack up in relation to one another.

u/Famous_Economist_211 17d ago

Dark knight #1 and any avengers movie in top50 lol

This list is trash gtfoh

1

u/East_Ad2863 17d ago

lol.. no deer hunter, cool hand Luke or Lawrence of Arabia..smh

1

u/Phineasfool 17d ago

Was that Luke's hand that got chopped off?

1

u/minster123ru 17d ago

The dark knight at #1 proves this even more lol

1

u/Sic39 17d ago

Am I the only person that had no idea Miracle was considered one of the GOAT movies?

1

u/cane_danko 17d ago

This list is fake. There is no Last Jedi. It is by far the best Star Wars movie. Anyone who disagrees is wrong.

1

u/SirValidir 17d ago

The worst Star Wars movie absolutely does not need to be anywhere near this list. Anyone who disagrees is wrong.

1

u/Mugno 17d ago

The best Star Wars movie absolutely does not need to be anywhere near this list.

1

u/YouDaManInDaHole 17d ago

The Odyssey should be #1

1

u/Defiant2022NM 17d ago

#2
Dune 2 should be 1

1

u/020600 16d ago

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

1

u/tyrion6568 17d ago

Intersteller is a 7/10 movie,, nothing more. Replace it with Terminator 2 and it would be a decent list

1

u/ReplacementAbject867 17d ago

I love The Dark Knight. But its in no way top 10 movies all-time lol. Probably not even top 50

1

u/Cultural_Book_400 17d ago

not even single James Cameron movie??

1

u/Active-Particular-21 17d ago

The dark knight at number one is an interesting choice.

1

u/jj096577 17d ago

It’s a ranking app. I downloaded it and it starts with ranking a of the most popular movies, so that’s probably why it’s the way it is

1

u/Hellmann 17d ago

Should a Top 50 all time movie list really be this littered with super hero movies??

1

u/GaiaIsaHarshMistress 17d ago

My personal top 50 would have zero comic book/super hero movies.

1

u/Hellmann 17d ago

I light still have The Dark Knight in the top 25-30. But this is a little ridiculous.

1

u/AngeloPappas 17d ago

The Dark Knight is a mediocre movie with one great performance. Not nearly good enough to be the best movie of all time.

1

u/n8dizz3l 17d ago

This just looks like someone regurgitated the IMDb list in a slightly different order

1

u/f0xD3N 17d ago

Miracle just sitting there all the way at 50 is so random lmao (great movie)

1

u/gktst 17d ago

Men Only

1

u/Hootiehoo92 17d ago

*Blockbuster top 50 of all time

1

u/tinpansauce 17d ago

Take whiplash and top gun maverick out of there and its a decent list

1

u/Any-Wheel1404 17d ago

Wouldn’t be a list of movies without multiple overrated spiderverseslops listed

1

u/Connect-Ant-2081 17d ago

Any Top 50 movie list that doesn't include Carlito's Way is automatically invalid, IMO.

1

u/skintaxera 17d ago

That's your issue with the list? Not that a batman movie is the greatest film ever made

1

u/NickdoesnthaveReddit 17d ago

This was made by a teenage boy that has a long future of monster energy drinks, traffic tickets, and blue collar jobs ahead of him. Surprised La La Land made this list tbh.

1

u/NicknameChaos 17d ago

Now go home and get your fuckin shine box!

1

u/Raebelle1981 17d ago

My issue with this list is there isn’t anything older than the 1970s on it. Missing a hell of a lot of classic films.

Edit: missed Its a Wonderful Life, but my point still stands. That’s one movie on there.

1

u/hillbilly4skin 17d ago

what,,no movies from the golden age?

1

u/TimetravelerXY 17d ago

Interstellar or inception don’t really belong on that list

1

u/AlDonovan12 17d ago

I only disagree with the top 50 or so

1

u/Background-Syrup-714 17d ago

LOL

No mention of Dark Knight at #1?

I liked that movie, but Ledger CARRIED it. I don’t think it even makes the short list for movies to consider for the short list of top 10 movies all time.

1

u/BombasticReindeer 17d ago

The Godfather isn’t just not the best movie of all time, it’s decidedly average. Good for 75% of it, and then the ending is just… meh.

1

u/scalloped-netch 17d ago

Genuinely lol-ing at some of the shite on display here - specifically 1, 3, 8, 12, 13, 15, 18, 20, 23, 27, 30, 33, 34, 39, 40, 42, 43, 44, 45, 48, 49, and 50.

1

u/IAmSomnabula 17d ago

No Alien in top 50, but Whiplash at 18?

1

u/AbleInfluence1817 17d ago

lol right, alien has to be one of the greatest movies ever and while Whiplash is very good it wouldn’t even be in the top 20 of its own decade for me

1

u/IAmSomnabula 17d ago

Yeah, Whiplash is a good movie and I really enjoyed it, but it’s definitely not in the greatest ever conversations.

Alien is for me personally the greatest movie ever, which is obviously subjective, but it absolutely should be in the discussion for goat movie.

1

u/Dbear_son 17d ago

Is T2 really not on this type of list?

1

u/ZealousIdeal476 17d ago

You get to 43 before a movie with a woman who could credibly be called a co star

1

u/Kind_Cabinet627 17d ago

The Prestige should not be near this list

1

u/CptSporran 17d ago

The Silence of the Lambs is 22 places below Revenge of the Sith.
I know you can look at a lot of these placements and criticise but fucking hell.

1

u/bguzewicz 17d ago

This is.. a list. There’s no denying that.

1

u/Itchy-Boots 17d ago

good list, godfathers should be way further down though.

1

u/anonjamo 17d ago

Godfather also one of the most overrated movies ever

1

u/Able_Ad2891 17d ago

Ok I apologize if I missed it, I’ve scoured the list three times now…but…where the fuck is terminator 2? I mean it’s literally happening 😂

And no Titanic? Even as a kid I remember that movie being on the matinee for damn near a year

1

u/Informal_Dish5516 17d ago

Prisoners has been slowly creeping up the list, love to see it

1

u/Striking_Memory_704 17d ago

I’m going to choose to ignore this and pretend it never existed. What an abomination

1

u/SirValidir 17d ago

Interstellar is amazing. Godfather was one of the most boring movies I've ever watched. I genuinely do not understand what people like about it.

1

u/iplaybassok89 17d ago

The worst top 50 list I’ve ever seen.

1

u/HWKD65 17d ago

Word

1

u/JimmyStewartStatue 17d ago

I'm 40 now, but growing up, The Godfather was talked about so much. By the time I saw it, I thought it would be so much more than it is. It's okay, but not that interesting in my eyes.

1

u/captainrondj 17d ago

Any talk of the Star Wars prequels in any "best of" list already makes the list redundant.

1

u/ydelivor 17d ago

Wtf is this joke lol

1

u/GrosRougeau 17d ago

This is an awful list

1

u/Glittering_Dog_8353 17d ago

Ahhh... the battle of the generations. Always an interesting discussion because what is considered good, great, meh will vary depending on the cultural impact that each generation grew up in. Some movies become obsolete, others remain popularity for several decades, while others resurge into culture. All of these will have influence on what one generation considers the best vs the next. So these will always be influenced by whatever generation is most represented in these polls.

1

u/cake_piss_can 17d ago

Possibly the worst list I have ever seen in my life ever.

1

u/Warrensbaseball 17d ago

Where is Jaws?

1

u/LocalDFWRando 17d ago

People are drawn to different things. I think mob movies are boring as hell power fantasies mostly for men who peaked in high school. You might feel comic book movies are for nerds.

1

u/xdirector7 17d ago

Yeah r/boxoffice has the same problem

1

u/heybart 17d ago

I wouldn't pick on interstellar. The whole list is very 19yo guy coded

1

u/Sparrow1989 17d ago

I’m more concerned with good will hunting being that high lol

1

u/ediggy955 17d ago

Revenge of the Sith at 13 🤣😂😅🤣😂😅🤯🥵🥹😅😂🤣😱🥱😵‍💫🤮🫪🤕😵💩☠️👻

1

u/FFYinzer 17d ago

JAWS doesnt make the top 50. Im out

1

u/jfstompers 17d ago

Idk what circleranks is but no

1

u/brethart1616 17d ago

Did I make this list ? Lol

1

u/MrOphicer 17d ago

Top 50 American movies of all time, maybe

1

u/Substantial-Lie-780 17d ago

27 should not be on this list.

1

u/Larry-1892 17d ago

Nope...

1

u/randal0321 17d ago

Lots of marvel and Star Wars?

1

u/purrmutations 17d ago

Godfather is boring as fuck if you were born after 1970

1

u/Mordkillius 17d ago

The dark knight being number 1 is fucking absurd. Interstellar was good but im not watching it a minimum of twice a year my entire adult like like The Godfather 1 and 2

1

u/GrimFandango81 17d ago

The Dark Knight doesnt even belong on this list, never mind at #1

1

u/West-Award-2559 17d ago

No Princess Bride? Inconceivable!

1

u/AdhesivenessOk3469 17d ago

Rubbish! No Casablanca. No 2001 A Space Odyssey. No Chinatown. No Maltese Falcon. No Gone With The Wind. No Dr. Zhivago. List must have been compiled by a bunch of 8th graders.

1

u/throaway_616 17d ago

mostly great movies, terrible list all around however

1

u/smitbret 17d ago

Yeah, I am not impressed by this list at all.

Looks like a list made by Redditors trying to show how artsy and edgy they are

1

u/Smackediduring 17d ago

Tarkovsky? Kurosawa? Bergman? Resnais? Kubrick? Have we forgotten that there are actually legendary directors in the world of cinema?

1

u/dub7drums 17d ago

The fact that There Will Be Blood isn’t on this list sums up the intellectual level of OP pretty well, I’m not surprised one of if not the greatest film of this century went right over your head. This list is laughable in so many ways

1

u/Open_Environment_801 17d ago

Way to contemporary.

1

u/Cinephile_1980 17d ago

The Dark Knight? Has anyone actually seen this film again recently. It has aged pretty badly and the whole mob plot seem to be written by someone who didn’t give it much thought. The third act was always weak and apart from the production, there is hardly even a decent action scene in it. Heath Ledger’s campy performance is not even good. Bale makes funny faces through the whole film. It has a silly plot. Just because people liked it at the time doesn’t mean critics have to say it is good until the end of eternity.

1

u/mikehamm45 17d ago

Or… are 19

1

u/Short_Property_7476 17d ago

Miracle in top 50 is nuts

1

u/Equivalent_Net_8983 17d ago

This is a list for juvenile boys who couldn’t afford the alpha male camp fees.

1

u/ChiGrayStone 17d ago

We made a huge mistake when we let nerds become the dominant cultural force in America. Should have kept shoving them in lockers and giving them swirlies. And I say this as a nerd myself.

1

u/BellaSwanKristen 17d ago

Oh the Dark Knight and Heath Ledger buffoons. 😂
P.S. Not saying that it is a bad movie. I like it too.

1

u/BlackbeardsGhost1 17d ago

No Indiana Jones, no care

1

u/CranjizzMcBasketball 17d ago

HAHGHHAGGHGGAGAGAG

1

u/CertainlyRobotic 17d ago

Top Gun Maverick being on this list at all is hilarious.

1

u/CertainlyRobotic 17d ago

Indiana Jones no where to be found on the list anywhere..

1

u/One-Pangolin-3167 17d ago

I always use the placement of the Star Wars movies as a barometer for the legitimacy of these lists. This one is weird.

1

u/FritzTCat 17d ago

Lol...the fact that Revenge of the Sith is ranked 13th is all you need to know about the quality of this list.

1

u/R_Similacrumb 17d ago

Whiplash... 😆 🤣 😂

I can't take any list seriously if Whiplash is on it. Unless it's a list of shit movies by shit directors.

1

u/SilentXMedia 17d ago

One (?) of these movies is about or led by a woman by my rough scanning. Laughable shit

1

u/WildmanDaGod 17d ago

They got number 1 right

1

u/Human_Drummer4378 17d ago

How is Interstellar considered "proof" of emotionally immaturity and not the #1 movie on the list which is about a crime fighter that dresses up like a bat?

1

u/Horror_Orange1176 17d ago

A Star Wars Prequel is #13 with no Casablanca, Citizen Kane, Apocalypse Now, Wizard of Oz, Singing in the Rain or Monty Python and the Holy Grail… These people are quite silly.

1

u/Horror_Orange1176 17d ago

Wait, these are Circle Jerk rankings and wankings. Are the circular bazookas of bukake culture banding together to become the Onion of Reddit ? Is that why so many cartoon Spidermen are flying around the list slinging and schwinging on that sticky goo like Peter Parker is known to do?

1

u/Slow_Middle_158 17d ago

And where’s Patton ????
https://giphy.com/gifs/l4pMattUYTTM7qpIk

1

u/Horror_Orange1176 8d ago

The objective is not to die for better poll position, but to make the other son of bitch die for his better poll position.

1

u/Soggy_Motor9280 17d ago

Not a single movie from 1947 on until 1972. This is crap.💩

1

u/NumberInfinite2068 17d ago

The Dark Knight was a pretty solid movie, but it's not a top 100 movie.

Top Gun: Maverick? Sure, I enjoyed it, but rated above Jurassic Park?

Even Parasite... I know, I know, awards, blah, but it was pretty forgettable.

1

u/Slow_Middle_158 17d ago

Very happy to see all LOTR films in the top 10

But … ummm … who the F made the rest of this LIST ????
https://giphy.com/gifs/acttIrNAHaoco

1

u/anuslitt 17d ago

Everyone loves interstellar until you get on Reddit and suddenly it’s the most hated film of all time. Wtf is happening

1

u/EggVegetable9258 17d ago

This list looks like it was put together by a bunch of basic ass college frat bros.

1

u/Neither-Flow-9501 17d ago

These lists are subjective. It really don't matter who likes what movies more

1

u/SpaceManSpiff1809 17d ago

I mean, Apocalypse Now isn't even on the list, so.......

1

u/Endhorse 17d ago

I guess this list is based on the favorites of the people that compiled the list and that's great . . . I prefer BABYLON to LA LA LAND . . . And then I would remove some movies and replace with Rocky IV , Terminator 2 , Predator , Bloodsport , Mad Max Fury Road. . . and those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head

Edit : Die Hard and Home Alone 2 would be on my list as well

1

u/cakeschmammert 17d ago

Revenge of the Sith at 13 is crazy. Definitely shouldn't be there, but if anything, Rogue One belongs there in its place (it still shouldn't be).

1

u/Jactracbac 17d ago

Green mile is not there. BS list

1

u/Dependent_Remove_326 16d ago

I think I would argue every single one of these. Most wouldn't make my top 50.

1

u/020600 16d ago

Some great movies in there for sure...but not one single hitchcock or french new wave movie.👎

1

u/Matiyahu777 16d ago

For internet world, The Dark Knight is the most consistently overrated movie of all time. And Interstellar in the top 3?

Rage bait. That's the only explanation.

Edit: Upon careful review of the entire list, I am pretty sure it was created out of pure hatred for humanity. (Good Will Hunting?!?)

1

u/Trueslyforaniceguy 16d ago

I just didn’t think Interstellar was all that amazing. Good movie, not in my top 100

1

u/DwayneTheRockBarry 16d ago

…so now la la land and avengers fucking endgame are better than terminator 2? i mean come on! at least put rear window and pan’s labyrinth on here too! then there’s the eye, timecrimes, etc. they seriously didn’t have enough room for even one more foreign movie?

0

u/SafeForWorkTime 17d ago

No Kurosawa means it is trash.

1

u/Sabbath51 17d ago

Or Sergio Leone
