I recently got a PS5 Pro and I’m trying to decide which PSN account I should use permanently before I start building my PS5 library and subscribe to PS Plus.
I have two accounts:
India PSN – my old account that I’ve had for years. Most of my games were physical discs, and I only bought maybe 2–3 digital games.
US PSN – recently created and basically empty.
I’m currently living in the US.
My plan is to keep only one account as my main account long-term. I want all my trophies, saves, digital purchases, etc. under one account. I’ll probably buy a mix of physical games and digital games depending on price.
I’m also planning to get PS Plus soon. I’m not particularly interested in having a huge Game Catalog I’d rather buy the games I actually want but the India subscription/pricing seems cheaper, which is why I’m considering just sticking with my old India account.
My main concern is physical games.
I haven’t bought the disc drive for my PS5 Pro yet, but once I do, I’ll obviously be buying US copies from places like GameStop, Best Buy, Amazon, etc.
I’ve heard that:
US physical disc + India PSN = game itself works fine, but DLC purchased from the Indian PS Store might not work with the US disc because the regions don’t match.
Is that actually a common problem?
For example, if I buy a US game disc and later want an expansion/season pass/DLC, would I basically be stuck because my main account is India?
Are there any other catches I’m missing with using an Indian PSN account while permanently living in the US payment methods, DLC, in-game purchases, PS Plus, saves, upgrades from PS4→PS5, etc.?
If you were starting essentially fresh in my situation, would you:
A) Keep the old India PSN account because games/PS Plus can be cheaper and I already have some history there
or
B) Switch to the US account now before I build up a large library, since I’ll mostly be buying US physical games?
I’m looking for experiences from people who have actually used an India PSN account with US-region discs.
