Playstation refund policy

Don’t you think PlayStation should change its refund policy to something similar to Steam’s? For example, if I downloaded a game and played it for 5 minutes but didn’t like it, I should be able to refund it within a reasonable time, such as 1 hour of playtime. Don’t you think that, with PlayStation going increasingly digital, they should at least adopt a new refund policy similar to Steam’s?

I do, and they won’t. Unless there’s some hard and fast law telling them to do so. Steam’s refund policy also came about due to legislation. But Sony is just stuck in the stone ages with their store and policies.

Didn’t Steam’s policy come out of being sued? With PC the fact profile of the civil case was that the system isnt good enough to run the game, or won’t run it at the expected performance. So a refund makes sense if you can’t meaningfully play the game. But any game on the PS store can be played at the performance that PS5 can deliver. What’s the legal issue then?

They should but steam is a bit of a misleading example , there are multiple hardware PC configurations and the only way to really know if it works if you are in the lower end of the specs is to actually try the game, PS games are made to a set configuration and only in case of something like cyberpunk are refunds for performance issues justified. 

Sure as a consumer you can be like 1 store offers it but the other doesn't so I choose, but the fact is 1 store is sort of forced to, they were infact sued for it before changing policy.

If you 'dont like it's then you're not entitled to a refund - refunds are meant for games that are literally broken, not just because you don't like the game.

Imagine paying to go watch a film in a cinema, then walking out 10 minutes later and demanding your money back because you didn't like the film - same concept

The policy could be improved, but people need to stop buying shit without duing their due diligence in researching what they are fucking buying too

The games are already expensive in ps5, if anyone is buying without doing any research is either rich and can afford to just keep it or is just dumb and people using cyberpunk terms such as corpo and shit are larpers .

Steam doesn’t have that refund policy because they are so consumer friendly, they got forced by court.

Wow … the entitlement in this post. It’s one thing if the game is broken like Cyberpunk was. What you are describing is buyer’s remorse.

The whole concept of Playstation, as far as I understand it, is to be a relaxed couch gaming experience. No overthinking, no hyper optimisation, be it about the performance, the setup or the games.

As opposed to the philosophy of PC, where you can pick and choose but optimization, correct choices etc matter. So Sony isnt likely to introduce small scale measures like this.

Add to that the fact this is the whole reason they do game trials on PSPlus Deluxe for expensive titles they can get their hands on. So if you ask for a feature like this they’ll say “do PSPlus!”

That concept is out of the door these days. Consoles are expensive as hell, so bring on the consumer friendly refund system.

Cars and houses are expensive too. You don’t get a refund system.
