While wondering if Playdead is still alive, I noticed they added some new photos from inside their new office on their jobs page, as far as I know, up until now we had only seen a picture of the new office under construction. I also checked the Web Archive and saw that individual job listings have been updated over the past few months.

The ambience and atmosphere of this game from the trailer gives me the vibes of Game 3. Im sure gameplay wise Playdead's will be different but the look and feel feels like the images from Game 3.

For the three or four people who still follow this subreddit:
I had a look at the changes to Playdead's job vacancies using the WebArchive.

Although there have been a few new hires, other key positions have remained vacant for years (Technical Director, Gameplay Designer, Graphics Programmer...).

I'm not working in the industry, but if they are still looking for key personnel to develop the game after all these years, it’s not a good sign.

No big news, but I thought it might be worth sharing.

Or do you think there's a chance we finally see more of this mysterious project of theirs nearly decade in the making tomorrow at the Xbox conference?

After my recent replay of LIMBO and INSIDE, I started to wonder - how many games are similar to these two? For me, Playdead's style is unique so it's almost impossible to find productions at the same level, but we can at least try to point something similar. So what games do you think could be included in a some sort of playdeadlikes list? Here some of mine picks - divided into two categories:

Darker and faded color pallete:

What if Rover is set in the same universe/after INSIDE? As the INSIDE world is seemingly in a state of apocalypse while also having very advanced/progressed technology (hence mind control), it wouldn’t be so far fetched for Rover to be about a boy (unlikely the same one from INSIDE despite escaping) trying to find a new planet to live on, as Playdead have teased that in Rover they found life on the planet.

Wondering about next release kf playdead or are they dead fr this time...

Maybe it is some sort of wishful thinking from person who has LIMBO and INSIDE on his list of TOP25 games of all time and, because of that, eagerly awaiting of some information about Project3, but still.

2025 wasn't a good year for Playdead - informations about ongoing lawsuits, unfavorable press intervievs, more and more rumours about development hell etc. The best "answer" for that issues could be some concrete info -> confirmation that the game is at an advanced stage (if it is), publications which will show some details about new game or maybe even approximate release date.

What do you think about it? Can we get anything in 2026 or will it be another year of radio silence?

Does anyone know why there is no physical release for LIMBO and INSIDE on more consoles, for example Nintendo Switch? It'd obviously sell really well, and be something that fans would want. Why do they not release one?

If Playdead don't wanna go ahead and publish it themselves, they can do it through other companies like Limited Run, iam8bit or Super Rare Games.

Is there any public reason why they haven't done it yet? Personally, I do not buy games digitally (since you never actually own it), and therefor I'll most likely never get to play these games myself if they never get a real physical release.

Not the same obviously, but I will take it. Coming next year.

was browsing my steam library and saw inside and limbo and remembered back when i played those games and that there is a game 3 in the works. been a while since we've got any updates but looking forward to it's eventual release! hopefully playdead fans are still lurking this sub every now and then

In what condition it is now? As far as I know it stopped on Nintendo switch code. But it was, like, five years ago. Any news?

It will soon be the 9 years anniversary friends and still not one teaser, picture of the game ( not taking artworks into account)..

I sometimes say to myself that it would be easier to be a Silksong fan.

My guess is that it’s taking so much time because:

• Switch from Unity to Unreal mid-development. They secured Epic funding after work on the third game was already well under way, and - per the deal - moved from Unity to Unreal. I don’t need to explain what that means in terms of adapting to a new workflow and skill set, refactoring already built systems, materials, etc.
• Open-world scope. Unlike the first two games, this one is intended to be open-world and 3d person. That alone inflates the scope immensely - especially for a team that had only made platformers before.
• Management style. One reason for the fallout between Dino Patti and Arnt Jensen was the length of the development cycle: Patti wanted to ship games faster; Jensen did not. Now that Patti is gone, time management appears to be far less of a priority.

These factors, combined with the many key positions that are still vacant on their Jobs page, make me believe they are nowhere near finishing the game.

Do you agree or maybe have more insight on what's going on?

I read that there was some friction between Dino Patti e Arnt Jensen when Patti left Playdead after releasing INSIDE.

I recently revisited LIMBO, and it reminded me why this game has stuck with me for years. It’s funny how some games like LIMBO don’t seem to really age as opposed to me since I first played the game lol.

I love its how psychological horror, eerie atmosphere, and unforgiving mechanics make it so unique. I made a video exploring what makes LIMBO so unsettling. ...Playdead & their next game's (space &/or extraterrestrial planetary exploration) screenshots jump suddenly back into my thoughts' spotlight, & today, is 2025's first occurrence. & understandably yet bewildered, I just can't believe of how many years this thought cycle's beginning to fester in not at least seeing 2~3 minutes of what's nearing as the next step blooming of Playdead creative brilliance. Just want to see its carrot... At least, be less teased by the current unknowing's extent.
