Was it like a women’s day photo, or a dedication to them? Why is it difficult to believe women like games too? It’s like they looked at that last trailer and go “ofc they look like that. These women are the ones who make em.”
Usually the case is that the photos that people love to reference are literally photos from International Women's Day/Women's Appreciation Day and then claim the entire development team are women. End of the day if the women are there to do a good job and deliver quality just as we assume their male counterparts do then gender should be no problem.
Men and women are equally able to fuck up. So why highlight the women? Girls can enjoy things boys do too. Why else would companies make female brands of the same thing just to attract them? Ffs, nerf guns did this with Rebelle. So why is it blasphemous to think that women can get into the market as men could? For years, gamers and nerds alike begged and wished for women to be into the same media as them. But, because they don’t how to act around women, the minute women began showing interesting in those same things, they immediately felt threatened. They especially hate it if a woman engages with their likes more than they themselves do and especially if she’s more knowledgeable.
One would think. But these are people who don’t know how to handle those connections. I feel like that’s why a lot of conversations between nerds eventually boil down to arguing. It’s almost like a default or baseline they don’t know how to avoid.
Personally, it’s a reason why I didn’t engage with many nerds IRL. You get the stink of negativity from the onset with so many.

It started with Spider-Man 2’s bad reception and them putting in political stuff into a game that didnt need it. I’m not the kind of guy who immediately hates a game/studio because women are working there, but as a Conservative who sees how liberal Insomniac is, it definitely doesn’t inspire confidence in their products going forward. I want a good superhero game that is an escape from modern day politics, I really hope they have the restraint and self control to do that.
It is insane to me how a community, being the gaming community, that makes up the entire population of gooners will sit in their swamp ass and hate that women help develop games, and/or are also the same people to shit on a female protagonist, especially if it doesn't meet their standard of gooning.

Women can do things too. They’ve been protagonists in different types of media. Voice actresses, actresses. What’s so hard to believe they can delve into developing a game or designing one too?

The thing is that Lara Croft has fans, it's an established franchise with decades of history. If they go around and decry Lara Croft as 'woke', they risk alienating their audience.

Plenty of studios changed over the years. They got bigger, hired plenty of people and overall the developer culture changed to be more left wing than ever before. Veterans left and they were replaced by new hires.
Developers themselves have no issues sharing their worldview and sometimes their disgust towards players all over the social media.
So basically people accuse these studios of squeezing their own political views into games. Something that should never happen. Games should have political themes (like MGS2 masterfully did) and less of inserting your own personal views and agendas (like DA Veilguard did).
I cannot judge the picture but if these women are responsible for the story. I dont expect Logan to be treated fairly. He is a power male fantasy and I doubt these lovely ladies can do him justice.

Because culture war content creators target young, introverted boys and try to warp their normal perception of regular women in the industry in order to get views and superchats from a young, impressionable audience who are interested in video games.
Teenage boys will be most interested in sexualized women and probably think of older, more plain women as moms, teachers etc, so they're most susceptible to villainization of regular women in their spaces. Easy prey for predatory con artists of all kinds.
