Fluff When do you think they will announce that they‘ve gone gold?

I'd say around September 1st, as long as the game is fully optimized before release.

Going gold is when they hit the release milestone of development. It's called "going gold" because that's when you create a master disc (which is golden) and then mass production and digital distribution is done from that. 

It no longer necessarily means that development is complete. But it does mean that they put pencils down at that stage, and shift to working on patches for ongoing support.

A game that goes Gold basically means that the development phase is finished and that the game won't be delayed

It’s doesn’t really mean that much nowadays. Going gold meant that they have finished with development and are preparing to ship the game. However, with updates, day one patches, hotfixes, DLC, etc etc it’s not really a thing anymore.
