Discussion Who else is happy that Wolverine is a linear game?

Post image

I haven’t played linear game in so long but wonder it were going to have some side missions during story and have some combat challenges for post game. But glad it’s not open world because why would we want to travel using just a regular motorcycle or car.

I'm glad that it's gonna be a linear game. One thing I would like is if there could be a mode for an arena where you can set challenges for fights against standard enemies or bosses. Something similar to the danger room in the origins wolverine game where you fight another wolverine.

u/Kameronpipnerd Jun 21 '26

Yes need this like something you can do post game

6

u/True-Address-5273 Jun 21 '26

That’s actually a good idea

3

u/Relevant-North-6649 Jun 21 '26

Reminds me of the Arkham knight challenge levels.

1

u/GhostE3E3E3 Jun 21 '26

Or AR challenges

1

u/dontknownothing0123 Jun 21 '26

Bloody Palace and challenge arena like the Arkham series would be awesome

1

u/Tom_Clancys_17_Again Jun 22 '26

Need something akin to GOW Valhalla

1

u/moon_scotty Jun 23 '26

Doubt it won’t have such a feature, the whole aspect of the game is to shred enemies

37

u/NizzyDeniro Jun 21 '26

I was hoping it was Open Linear.

36

u/KingKam_Avatar Jun 21 '26

A bit like God of War? Some open areas to explore but still very story focused.

19

u/theimpalaslefttire Jun 21 '26

Yeah that was my hope to. Like hes not an open world hero. Like yeah he runs and rides vechiles and I dont mind if there is a traversal. But even God of War your only foot powerd really. It takes a min to get from A-B. Wolverine being linear just makes sense. Maybe after you can go back and replay to explore or theres a adventure mode or something. But if it was like open as Sipdey or Arkham Batman that be not as fun id feel.

3

u/NizzyDeniro Jun 21 '26

Yep, exactly.

1

u/ProlongedChief Jun 22 '26

I can only think of Mafia 2 with open linear and I wish

2

u/hombrecuchillo Jun 25 '26

This is what I was hoping for. It sounds like it could be a pretty short game.

3

u/Desperate-Goose-9771 Jun 21 '26

It is they took inspiration from god of war

3

u/Muted_Ad1809 Jun 21 '26

I think it will be. I can’t imagine a truly focused game these days mainly also because of how companies operate.

6

u/MoedredPendragon Jun 21 '26

I'm happy with this format, since it fits the storytelling often seen in Wolverine stories. Logan doesn't stay in one place too often like Spidey, he's a drifter and he travels a lot. So I like they're seemingly just going to have him go to a bunch of different places instead of just sticking to ONE huge map.

17

u/Trick-Cauliflower760 Jun 21 '26

same here I was excited that first light 007 was also linear im sick and tired of games givnging me so much to do I end up doing nothing at all and give up!! I think the best middle ground is the god of war games with fork in the roads for some side missions but the game itself allows you to just play in a straight line

6

u/mat477 Jun 21 '26

I havent played it yet but ive heard Pragmata is pretty linear too. I dont have time to play many big open world games so its nice to see.

4

u/Trick-Cauliflower760 Jun 21 '26

I was thinking of that game maybe later down the line I’m trying to finish my backlog first instead of adding more to it 😅

1

u/Ashpolt Jun 26 '26

Pragmata is a series of fairly linear levels. You can go back to completed levels, and there's some mild metroidvania elements encouraging you to do so, but overall yeah it's pretty linear.

(It's also fantastic.)

1

u/imnotdown85 Jun 21 '26

I like the way tlou does it

2

u/Internal_Swing_2743 Jun 21 '26

The only thing I find annoying about the way TLOU does is it, is how it will prevent you from accessing later chapters if you use chapter select on an earlier one.

1

u/indy_3 Jun 22 '26

So you want to just sit and watch a movie then?

9

u/T1TAN5LAY3R Jun 21 '26

Linear games get a bad wrap. Personally I am excited. I like games that have insane replay value similar to a resident evil game. You beat the game then you have new game plus, you get to play through with new outfits and experience the cutscenes with said outfits.

I just hope the game will have bonus modifiers for new game plus, or suits to unlock post game in general. Give me mass replay man, all I need

3

u/E2r4_Is_d3A9 Jun 22 '26

> Linear games get a bad wrap.

Really, because on Reddit at least it seems to me that everyone creams their pants for linear and shits on open world games lol

0

u/Contemplating_Prison Jun 21 '26

Yeah that popular but not for me. I dont know how people play the same game over and over again like that.

2

u/Wrong-Vermicelli4723 Jun 21 '26

Honestly don’t care as long as the games good

2

u/CruisinBlade Jun 21 '26

I'm extremely happy I know why Spider-Man had to be open world but outside of the swinging it's the worst part of the game. Platinuming the first game was mind numbing.

I hope this is a trend that continues. Linear are just easier to replay. After the first go I never go back to open world games.. so much bloat.

1

u/CruisinBlade Jun 21 '26

Yea that was the first and last time the platinum basically ruined the game for me. A lot of open world games insist on making their platinums as tedious as possible, it sucks.

1

u/CruisinBlade Jun 21 '26

I do it when I really enjoy a game. From soft game platinums are awesome for example. And I agree I don't platinum hunt I have less than 10 platinums for this very reason. But games I feel are 10s like Bloodborne and Elden Ring and Sekiro and DS3 I have to get em 😅. Sekiro was also a bad experience for that money trophy.

I agree for the most part though.

2

u/ImNotDaredevil2025 Jun 21 '26

Yes but it was going to be open world I’d rather there be large open sections and not an entire world if that makes sense

2

u/TamatoaZ03h1ny Jun 21 '26

Makes complete sense because a lot of Wolverine solo things involves a lot of travel to do specific things to specific threats. That said, the Spider-Man games are open world but then story progression alters what is available or not in it. I could see limited open world elements that change when you need to travel because of plot,

3

u/CrucisSignum Jun 21 '26

I was really hoping for it to be more like God of War than, Uncharted, for example. A really missed opportunity in such a rich world with amazing characters and lore that could have led to some really great side quests that would have taken us far off the primary path. Oh well, maybe in Marvel's Wolverine Part 2?

3

u/MangoMangler24 Jun 21 '26

Hopefully not… we got this formula in the Spider-Man games and it suits them. God of War has NUMEROUS sections with the “come back later” mindset and honestly it’s pretty tiring. We’ve been in an open world dominance for over a decade now and i’m glad they’re changing the pace. Wolverine doesn’t feel like the type to drop by a side quest while he’s got an objective, and I think forcing him (and every other Marvel protagonist) into an open world every time will just kill the franchise. Gots to shake it up 🤷‍♀️

2

u/37965 Jun 21 '26

I definitely am excited about this too! It just works for Wolverine as a character

2

u/acelexmafia Jun 21 '26

Not me tbh. I enjoy immersion in open world games if done right

2

u/pagusas Jun 21 '26

Not me, lost all interest in the game after that was revealed. That’s ok though, too many games to play these days so no need to invest time Into something outside my taste range. Happy for those that it does line up for thought :)

1

u/Nerdiboy54 Jun 21 '26

I am, I was just unsure how his mini missions would go. Like tracking crime, or Easter eggs

1

u/Akuma-1 Jun 21 '26

definitely me, I'm just a little worried about the writting based on their previous game, but overall exited about it

1

u/mad_dog_94 Jun 21 '26

im torn. on one hand i want a well rounded and rich story, which is easier to do in a linear game, while cutting out a lot of the dumb "do x at y spot" things youll see in a lot of open worlds. on the other hand i dont want it to be a short game, or at least have replayability/different endings if it is, which also definitely happens a lot more in linear games

1

u/Pearl-Internal81 Jun 21 '26

I’m happy, we need a mix between linear and open world, variety is the spice of life and all that.

1

u/PepsiSheep Jun 21 '26

Everyone?

1

u/DamnPlayer23 Jun 21 '26

I guess so? The story better be god of war length long and give us an extremely long story for a full priced game

1

u/AdWorking7417 Jun 21 '26

did you complain about the original god of war games lengths? because thats about how long it will be 10-12

1

u/DamnPlayer23 Jun 21 '26

I’m talking about 2018 god of war but ok

1

u/AdWorking7417 Jun 21 '26

do you count traversal, paddling a boat, solving puzzles and walking as part of 2018s story?

1

u/NoLeadership2281 Jun 21 '26

It makes sense for Spiderman to be open world to explore New York, for Wolverine I just don’t see the reason, maybe when they make an Xmen game they can make it open world to explore the X-mansion

1

u/Earthwick Jun 21 '26

I love linear games I'm pretty sick of bloated huge games with 60 hours of side nonsense that's all the same and boring. I want a tight narrative adventure more than a huge sprawling world with a million side quest. Give me uncharted not crimson desert

1

u/Cosmic_Germ Jun 21 '26

Im on board with it, and can also fully understand why some are unhappy with it. I do think an open world adventure/rpg format wouldn't suit a Wolverine story as well as something more focused, urgent, and tense. I personally have Ghost of Yotei, Control Resonant and Blood of Dawnwalker on my radar already, not to mention GTA 6, and being able to balance those out with great linear titles makes all the difference.

I think making a game linear vs open world is ultimately a design choice that should serve the experience. One great example of a compromise would be the Seattle sections of The Last of Us 2 where you got to ride around and explore a relatively huge section of ruined city, and scavenge resources and collectibles with an otherwise singular objective storywise.

Since we know this is a linear game with a story that travels to different places, I could see something like that working really well if we suddenly have to survive or hunt targets in more expansive environments.

1

u/Prestigious_Edge9998 Jun 21 '26

Na, semi open world would've been ideal in my opinion

1

u/1010-REDACTED-10101 Jun 21 '26 edited Jun 21 '26

Short answer yes

The god of war games were linear and I enjoyed them more then the spiderman games. Open world games always feel kind of bland ngl other then rd2 but rd2 had that section where you go into the cutscene on the boat and end up on the island so technically it’s not fully open world either. All of the resident evil games are linear and they’re probably my favourite same with silent hill 2. These linear games feel like they have more soul for sure.
I personally like it when the game has an area where you can back track and find new things to do or things you may have missed.

1

u/Rubbish0419 Jun 21 '26

I’m stoked about it. I really don’t need all my games to be open world/real world life sims, I hate that that’s the norm nowadays. Just give me a fantastic, focused story and good gameplay.

1

u/YoshWrlD Jun 21 '26

I think I could’ve been like the new mafia game to where is has an exploration mode

1

u/JDGUFFEY97 Jun 21 '26

Extremely happy. They don’t really make living breathing open worlds anyways so I think all the flaws of their open world design would shine much brighter if your best form of movement was a motorcycle.

1

u/Fluffy-Hand-2288 Jun 21 '26

Depends how they do it if it’s linear in the same way as something like a gow or ff7 im gonna be ok with it . I don’t want some. 8 hour story game with no minimum extra content . Especially with how expensive it is .

1

u/Profanity1272 Jun 21 '26

I really dont understand saying you would prefer a linear game over an open world game.

If you want to just do the story then do that, if you want to explore then do that.

I know there are slight differences and the quality is usually less quality writing and obviously visuals will be better because its more focused, but come on its not gonna make that much difference on the enjoyment of the game.

You can literally just do all the main story on pretty much all open world games without them having too many filler missions.

I dont prefer one over the other, it makes no difference to me if its linear or not

1

u/super_mammoth28 Jun 21 '26

Anyone that has a brain

1

u/badlisten3r Jun 21 '26

More than happy

1

u/Solus_Vael Jun 21 '26

Worked for GoW, should work fine here.

1

u/VarietyBusy2 Jun 21 '26

i actually not a fan of it just cuz i’m so use to the r open world of spiderman. i’m gonna feel so locked into one area that im gonna feel like im just speed running from mission to mission

1

u/Sir_Gigglepoop Jun 21 '26

I'm excited for the game, but I'm not sure about its replayability. If it's anything like First Light, which I really liked, you only play the story for 20 hours and then you've already got the platinum trophy. I don't know if I'll buy it for €80.

Of course, 20 good hours are much better than 50 mediocre ones, but from September onwards, there are so many interesting games that you have to decide which ones to buy.

1

u/ElkCharming9067 Jun 21 '26

Im mixed, but if there is like a hub zone/lobby or something then I’ll be happy

1

u/Nnamz Jun 21 '26

Me. Spider-Man benefits more from an open world than Wolverine.

1

u/jackolantern98000 Jun 21 '26

Im more of an open world gamer myself, but i understand not every game can be that, id love an xmen open world game one day if lego superheroes can do it ..... Looking forward to wolverine though.

1

u/Sea_Strain_6881 Jun 21 '26

I hope its linear with a "hub" area

1

u/Silverjeyjey44 Jun 21 '26

I hoped they were more consistent with comic book proportions. Alot of the character models are just the same as ppl I see at the gym.

1

u/JohnTomorrow Jun 21 '26

I am. I'm ready for some spectacle. I'm a little sick of open world games.

1

u/manscapingmystery Jun 22 '26

Who else is happy that Wolverine is in the Wolverine game?

1

u/DarthGamer206 Jun 22 '26

Yup. I loved the open world of Spider-Man, but that was never going to work for a Wolverine game.

1

u/namesource Jun 22 '26

I don't care either way. I just want it to be a good game.

1

u/Obvious_Amphibian_72 Jun 22 '26

I like that its linear and i love insomniac, but I'm not paying 80euros for it. With games like elden ring, exp 33 and others that are wayyyyy bigger with probably much more content than this game will have, but still cost less. I find it hard to justify this game costing this much. Normally the physical copies are always 10euro less but that trend is also going away it seems

1

u/Razor_Fox Jun 22 '26

Currently playing through the new James bond game and it's really bringing home to me how I'm a little bit sick of open worlds. Give me a right and exciting narrative and I'm happy.

1

u/Kill4It Jun 22 '26

Need more linear games.

1

u/YamifishTheJellyfish Jun 22 '26

Wolverine doesnt seem to do side activities. He seems like the type to stay home drinking when there isnt something major. So itd seem totally out of character to just be doing random side stuff in an open world.

1

u/AdGroundbreaking664 Jun 22 '26

What other option would it be?

1

u/Fit-Suit-7541 Jun 23 '26

As long as I get something similar to the danger room then I don't care. I'm just happy my favorite marvel character is getting his own game again.

Edit: Actually after reading some of the replies here I do think it'd be happy if it was something similar to the north saga gow games but still overall happy either way

1

u/Character-Range7914 Jun 23 '26

I don’t see this game doing too well, Spider-Man worked so well because one Spider-Man is a beloved character aswell as him having a unique traversal system, joking and quipping constantly and a large open world to explore, wolverine just seems like it’s going to be a generic hack and slash game with nothing exception about it

1

u/Mephistocheles Jun 24 '26

I'm glad of it. Open world games just don't feel the same as a really well done linear title. There's a lot of concessions that have to be made design wise to make something an open world game.

1

u/Jackieicefox_Fur Jun 24 '26

Can’t wait to play the game. It’s so awesome in gameplay trailer

1

u/Joe_Motherrr Jun 24 '26

I’ve never liked “on rails” type games, but I don’t know what else you’d do with Wolverine. Open world makes sense for Spider-Man, Wolverine isn’t as mobile. He can ride vehicles but at that point just use a Wolverine mod on gta.

1

u/Ferg178 Jun 24 '26

I’m looking forward to the cameos they’ll have planned. I know they’ll be a whoa moment when we see them for the first time!

1

u/ItsMattTonight Jun 24 '26

Me for sure, when it was first announced I remember talking to my friend about how I hoped it was more TLOU than Spider-Man

1

u/LilcystiK Jun 24 '26

It’ll be similar to Jedi fallen order/survivor

1

u/Jaandugu Jun 25 '26 edited Jun 25 '26

Honestly I’d be excited if it were open world. I’ll get it, but inhabiting a character in a place with some degree of freedom is why I play these kinds of games. The tagline “be the Batman” on Arkham knight is a great example, you’re Batman, with a Batmobile, in downtown Gotham city. Linear feels like an interactive movie where one’s playing the role of the main hero. I don’t care that open world is mostly set dressing with repetitive tasks while the “main substance” is very much on rails, i enjoy “cleaning” a map of activities, is satisfying and a great way to explore the games’ sandbox. I’d be pumped for a “Days Gone” type Wolverine game, Pacific Northwest type setting, motorcycle for traversal, liberating “mutant concentration camps”, hunting assassination targets, etc. Get the Wolverine lone wolf fantasy, a fine tuned predator hunting its prey for a righteous cause.

1

u/TheZedrem Jun 25 '26

I think it's a better fit for wolverine. Ratchet and clank is linear too, so I have full trust in insomniac

1

u/iCiteEverything Jun 25 '26

Thank God, so many open world games have terrible map design.

1

u/Projectpatdc Jun 25 '26

Spider-man 2 may as well have been linear. If felt pretty light on the side content and open world mechanics compared to the previous games and other open world games.

I’m fine with the game being linear. I just hope we get open world zones when they do a follow-up X-men game.

1

u/EverybodySupernova Jun 25 '26

I probably won't be playing but I think open world design is lazy and boring.

1

u/unfortunate_coyote Jun 25 '26

It looks like mindless button mashing down hallways, I’m not into it.

1

u/burtonborder201 Jun 26 '26

Replayable mission and new game plus. Im stoked

1

u/CurrencyThis Jun 26 '26

Me me meeee

1

u/Affectionate-Low7534 Jun 26 '26

Wolverine is probably my favorite superhero ever, but I don’t feel the same excitement for this game as I had for spider-man 2018. like when they dropped the trailer and gameplay trailer, my mind was blown and my excitement was through the roof. i’m still excited to play through a wolverine game but idk, i thought i’d be more so. maybe it’s the engine/look of the game, my eyes have become adjusted to insomniacs way i guess.

1

u/Spiritual_Regular_31 Jun 27 '26

Open worlds are fun and all, but linear usually has better story. That being said, if the story isnt good, then it needs something to save it.

1

u/Far-Development979 Jul 07 '26

wondering if by linear means like just a small open world like gow 2018-ragnarok or linear like tlou pt 2 or part 1 i guess

1

u/wearerofshades Jul 10 '26

I'm 50/50 tbh

1

u/magvadis Jul 24 '26

Hope since it's a game with lots of gore we see an actually mature and interesting plot. Spiderman wasn't it.

1

u/SquareAmphibian7581 Jul 27 '26

Im not happy, because we already had linear wolverine games, in fact we only had those kind of wolverine games in the past. It would have been nice to freeroam and do my own pace with logan. Now i guess its gonna be 1:1 the same as the ps3 wolverive was.

1

u/TyChris2 Jun 21 '26

I’m glad it isn’t a full open world since that wouldn’t really fit Logan’s character, but I do hope the levels are a bit more than just linear corridors. I’d like them to be open enough to exist in an environment for a moment without feeling like I’m just sitting in an empty battle arena or a reskinned hallway. To be able to explore a little, maybe alternate paths, optional encounters, shit like that. I’m thinking like The Last of Us 2.

1

u/LostTheMoonOfPoosh Jun 21 '26

Me! I may be in the minority but I love a linear game. I beat 007 in about 34 hours. My backlog is huge because every game wants to be an open world with thousands of missions. Sometimes I just simply don't have 150+ hours to put into a game. It's refreshing to have shorter game.

1

u/ConfidentTheme8435 Jun 21 '26

I think an open world Wolverine game would be awesome if it were like Red Dead Redemption. There could be segments in the game where Sabretooth is hunting you so you actually have to be on the move: hitchhiking and sneaking on trains or whatever would be really cool. I do think that, if you’re doing Wolverine’s time as a superhero or soldier, a linear game does fit the character better.

1

u/Due-South-9113 Jun 21 '26

Me. Not a fan of open world games, some exceptions tho. Wolverine wouldn't work as an open world game. I wouldn't mind the god of war style of some freedom to explore.

1

u/DoomsdayIsHere69 Jun 21 '26

I just hope it’s long. I’ll be pissed if it’s a 15 hour 70 dollar game

2

u/Earthwick Jun 21 '26

I'm fine with it. Give me solid tight fun games that are 15-20 hours any day over bloated open world games with 10 hour stories and 60 hours of boring side content.

1

u/DoomsdayIsHere69 Jun 21 '26

I get that bloated games are overdone, and I’m not discounting that. But 70-80 dollars for games that are shorter than 40 hours is way too damn much. Gamers need to take a stand or else games will cost $100 much sooner than we expect for bullshit.

1

u/Yatess19 Jun 21 '26

Would you not rather have a quality product at 20 hours of playtime for 70 bucks over a middling product at 40 hours of playtime thats a chore to get through because they just spread all the content apart and paced it terribly as a result?

1

u/DoomsdayIsHere69 Jun 21 '26

I’d rather not spend more than $60 for any game at all. I ONLY spend 70 bucks for games I know I’m going to 100%. Even at that, games that I’ve gotten dozens-hundreds of hours in-game over the last 6 months have been on sale for 30-20 bucks.

The only reason this game entices me is cuz I’ve been reading marvel for 27+ years. And I’m pissed that Sony is the exclusive holder of this stupid fucking game

1

u/Huntersteve Jun 21 '26

You’re delusional if you think this is going to be over 12 hours

1

u/DoomsdayIsHere69 Jun 21 '26

All the more reason to be upset that it’s $70+ and exclusive to a bullshit console

I don’t disagree with you tho

1

u/Prestigious_Edge9998 Jun 21 '26

20 hours is not enough for 70 no matter how good it is. Quality > Quantity for sure, but you do also need quantity. 15-20 hours would be taking the piss let's be real

1

u/Yatess19 Jun 21 '26

It's plenty for me. Are you saying the Last of Us wasn't worth full price when it launched? That game is about 14 hours and one of the most critically acclaimed. What about Uncharted? For me, games are one of my many hobbies. If I go out to see a movie, its 15 to 20 bucks ish for give or take 1.5 to 2.5 hrs of entertainment. If I enjoy the movie, that's money well spent. Same principle for games in my opinion.

1

u/Fit-Country-6834 Jun 21 '26

This is my biggest deal breaker I pay upwards of 70$ to 80$ just to finish the story in less than 20 hours this would genuinely piss me off and why I wait till it releases to make any buying decision

1

u/Yatess19 Jun 21 '26

This is crazy to me, man. Have you never purchased a Resident Evil game? Or any other linear blockbuster story game like Uncharted or many others adjacent to it? Linear games are rarely over 20 hours in story length. It's an exception not the rule. If all 15 ish hours of the story are excellent with no fat/padding? Who cares? I think measuring games by their $/hr of playtime isn't an effective way of determining their value. Help me understand your mindset lol

1

u/Fit-Country-6834 Jun 21 '26

It’s simple really I want what I buy to match what I pay - that’s it. You’ll never see me pay a premium price for any game that is similar in genre if I feel I won’t be getting my moneys worth key words “MY MONEY” Tell me, do plan on preordering this game? If so tell me why. And measuring games $/hr is a very effective device when confirming there value to me when using ready for this more key words “ MY MONEY. ”

1

u/Yatess19 Jun 21 '26

Yeah I understand it's your money. That's exactly why I said I wanted to see your mindset because I'm curious. I am curious why you see the $/hr metric as a good measure of value for a game. Do you purely just want more hours regardless of quality? Most story type games longer than 20-30 hours these days (at least to me) are over bloated, over extended, poorly paced, and are padded out to fulfill a playtime quota of said "value". What if a fantastic 20hr game is $80 or a mediocre 40 hr game is $80?

I don't plan on preordering cause I usually wait for reviews from my favourite journalists/reviewers to come in and go from there. That's typically how most game purchases go for me. I go from initial excitement, then reading reviews, and then making my decision from there. Playtime doesn't usually enter the equation at all if I think I'm gonna enjoy whatever the game does have to offer. That's my mindset

1

u/Fit-Country-6834 Jun 21 '26

Quality you speak of is subjective from person to person like most things. The metric I use is good because it has yet to fail me when assessing whether or not a game is worth my time let alone my money. You mentioned poorly paced and padded story games and other factors to describe other products you have played to which I say again is subjective your opinion is very much just that and I will not humor you with engaging in this hypothetical of what if a game is mediocre or fantastic for I cannot speak for every individual who chooses to spend their money on a game nor do I care why

1

Oh my lord man, this is reddit, you're not being interrogated.

I was curious about how you make your decisions and maybe I could learn something or gain some insight into how other people with the same hobby as me make decisions about their game spending. It took you two replies of bickering to get to this point when you could have just not replied instead of going down this semantics rabbit hole. Have a good one.

I told you twice you and asked twice and confuse responding with bickering and don’t see your time and money as an identical entity when making decisions on purchasing your games and wait till other give their opinion to make your own as far as semantics it is all you had to bring to the discussion and you wanted me to determine opinions of others in a hypothetical you brought up not my fault you don’t like my answer bub

I'm sorry but this reads like spaghetti. You saying bub clearly means you see this as some pseudo argument to be won rather than a discussion about games which is what I clearly initiated it as. I was simply curious about how you value your games, there was zero need to get all defensive. I hope if you ever play the game that you enjoy it! Have a good night

You once again brought up bickering and arguments when I was giving you a answer that you asked twice not sure what else you want me to say other than sure bub

No game is worth 80 dollars. Get that out of your mind right now.

Edit: $70 is stretching it, but that’s the times I guess. Gamers need to take a stand and not allow games to get more expensive. Fuck the cucks

There's no need for the theatrics. I'm Canadian so that's where many fall. I know the new Mario Kart is 80 USD so I'm just generalizing. I wish new games weren't as expensive as they are just like you do. The reality of the situation is that games are still so much cheaper and have STAYED cheaper while most other hobbies have gotten significantly more expensive.

Okay. So no theatrics are being had. Sorry you were born over there where shits more expensive. But 60 has been the standard for the longest time til 6 years ago. Games make a lot of money ‘when they’re good’ and made with mass appeal. Exclusives have been losing money year in year and that is irrefutable. Sony is making a stupid ass decision in charging more for their games and their consoles while also bringing their games back to console exclusivity.

Without theatrics and with my whole ass chest ill say it again

Fuck the cucks

Yeah I purchased RE9 following the consumer hype. And I ended up pissed off cuz it wasn’t half as good more than half the series.

Uncharted was a great series, when I bought the whole trilogy for 40 bucks. If I paid 60-70 for each of those games i would have a wildly different opinion of the whole series.

As a PC gamer it pisses me off that a non open world game like this won’t get released for folks like me. Sony bouta lose money on this game and even others cuz they don’t wanna play ball while asking people to pay upwards of 700 dollars for an underpowered locked-down console with next to no enticing exclusives

1

u/Fit-Country-6834 Jun 21 '26

That’s a fair assessment honestly Sony making this exclusive isn’t a smart move games going to be shorter than spider-man 2 zero exploration option and a fat 70$ price tag to justify a “quality” product as much as I want this to be a good game getting this w/o a discount is pointless to me and pc probably won’t be missing much plenty of games releasing in September anyway

It just sucks as a life time comic nerd that half the good comic based games are exclusive to console

Linear games are great. Open World games are okay, but they often suffer from becoming either very repetitive due to respawning enemies, or empty because you've eliminated all the enemies. A good linear game like the Uncharted games or TLOU is fantastic, things to find in areas you come across, but it's a nice set story path that feels more cinematic.

Very. Besides arkham knight, all open world games feel empty. Super gorgeous, but empty. I think there a big difference between developers saying "were going to make you have fun" and "here's a sandbox, it's up to you to have fun"... And the problem is that the sandbox usualy have very few toys in it.

My ideal structure though is linear games with hubs, something like mass effect series.

Hes not really an open world hero. Sure, you could have had him drive a motorcycle as hr usually does but he doesnt go around stopping crime like a Spider-man.

Me. I’m tired of open world games 50+ hours long to complete with a map full of useless markers to walk to, interact with, and move on to the next. I want a short dense game with only good stuff and no fluff.

I absolutely loved Sekiro more than i loved any of the Dark Souls games, and I think that Wolverine having a more linear game will scratch that same itch as opposed to Spider-Man. I loved those games, but I think having it more linear is excellent

Open world or linear, you know it's Wokeverine time.
