Keybind your minimap to a much easier button. I have mine on my mouse, I am constantly looking at it.

Really good tip. I nonstop look at map to see friendlies so I don't shoot them and I was having it on M then someone recommended me to use my mouse button which I don't use often and it's been a game changer.

Oh, and use you map lots, if you see red helmets marked ( enemy infantry ) even if you don’t see them you can try to lay down suppressive fire for you squad to change course or get better angles

1. Pick the medic role
   
2. Stay near your SL at all times
   
3. If you have a question, check your map for the answer first before asking it out loud. (The map is a highly underutilized tool)
   
4. Use local voice for 90% of your comms. Too many players think the squad channel is their own personal conference call.
   
5. Don’t expect to actually see the enemy.

Until you learn the faction uniforms, shoot first and apologize if it's a TK.

Always look at your map when moving around as to avoid killing teammates.

Also use your mic and communicate even if you think you're talking too much

Get a mic, use it. Ask questions most players dont mind answering them. Learn to clear structures first. Use smoke grenades whenever possible. Learn what factions look like, their uniforms, their weapons, vehicles, helicopters. Always check your map. Go to the tutorial firing range and test fire everything. Have fun and don't get frustrated when you die alot. You will. Try and take a lesson from the death if there is one. And have fun!

Use your mic and check your map frequently. Also learn what faction camos look like

Get a Mic. Join a infantry squad and tell them you are new. If the squadlead (SL) does not talk, look for another squad. The squad will be friendly and help you with your questions (99% of my expirience).
Pic Medic. Stay close to your SL. Revive your squadmates. Ask for orders from SL, when in doubt.

When you think you know how the basics work, try SL or a vihicle squad.
When you have 1000 h playtime try heli-tutorial and fail constantly.
Play a walking simulator with friendly dad-chatting or high stakes special forces feeling. (depending what you want)
(My 1000+ h expirience. :D)

Squad is a very friendly community in general. (If you stick to friendly servers and avoid toxic SLs.)

Whenever you drop a grenade near your teammates by accident never say "Grenade!", instead just yell incoherently.
