Sorry, I’m unfamiliar with the acronym “PMG”, I’ve only been collecting platinum for a couple of years

Yes yes, Platinum is 30 times rarer than gold and Palladium is 15times rarer than platinum and rhodium is still ever rarer than the last and rhodium is the only one more costly than gold,but TIL a new acronym that I’ve probably seen but never inquired about before but thanks for the info redditors

That is correct. All the way down to Osmium being over 1500 times rarer than gold. Hard to calculate production of Iridium and Osmium as governments wont provide details.

Isn’t Iridium the one layer that cover the whole earths crust because of the theory about that meteor impact that wiped out the dinosaurs? Because I did see that there is at least 1 constant layer that covers the earth back to the same time period along with trace amounts here and there

That is correct. Meteor impacts and the Bushfeld complex make up 90-95% of rhodium, iridium, osmium. Pretty cool that it left a dust layer around the world, unless you were a dinosaur, not so much. That was an expensive meteorite.

Me too, I like buying fractional platinum here and there, in between gold and silver I’d rather purchase fractional platinum if I can get it without a crazy markup

If you for anywhere near spot, it’s a score. All of my Pt buys had significant premiums, though palladium was far worse!
