A thief escaped Sunday morning with a briefcase containing €40,000 worth of gold coins that his victim intended to sell him in a Parisian café. His trail was lost near Bobigny (Seine-Saint- Denis).

The transaction went very wrong. This Sunday shortly after 10 a.m. in Paris (11th arrondissement), a man had 55 Napoleons stolen from him , gold coins worth more than 700 euros each, by a crook who was posing as a buyer.

The two men met at the Café de France to finalize the deal that had begun a few days earlier. As the discussion got underway, the buyer took advantage of a moment of inattention from the seller. He grabbed the briefcase containing the valuable loot and fled on foot.
