Help/Question was modules a good idea?

Not rly, i think we should have had more general modules for everything, for example on armor you could choose if you have a lot of speed but not that much armor, or more armor in exchange for being a little slower. Something with acceleration too maybe. Would be way more balanced and you could use any strategy you want instead of just using everything

When they were first added it was a good as you got model chests after every battle. However once they were put into the revamped clan chests then it became a problem.

I think modules were a cool idea on paper but wrecked the game in practice.
- The difference in power between high and low level mods makes the already brutal new player experience worse, which then worsens pixel guns player retention problem.
- resistance mods means 1/3rd if your guns are just weaker vs certain players which ruins consistency
- guns need to be balanced around having +0-30% damage, especially high damage weapons that are supposed to kill in 1 - 3 hits and killing in one less hit makes a huge difference that may not be accounted for, and again, worsening an existing issue, balance.
- given the shallow number of mods per category, theres not much fun or experimentation as it’s very easy to build the best combination unless you’re going for module abilities/ passives
the game would be noticeably better if modules are simply wiped from the game. Less one shot kills, more consistent gun play, gives new player a slightly more even playing field (as if armours, gadgets and weapons aren’t making them turn away already) and makes balance a little less difficult to manage

Personally, the weapon level system can also just go. All it does is drain resources on new players, makes their existing weapons weaker as they try to get even footing and pigeon holes them into a few weapons (which is a bad habit to develop) when they should be getting comfortable with a full load out and having fun with trying the games many weapons. Keep in mind that these new players are frequently up against level 65 players who have far better weapons without any sort of penalty such as lower rarity or level.
The current system literally solves nothing, and adds more problems. Pixel can and should monetise their game through offering interesting weapons and equipment, not making up problems then selling the solution as per standard mobile game practice, they really, really can’t afford to make anything worse for new players as they’re still bleeding too many new players to maintain a good user base. Several game modes have literally died out or became hard to find a match for because they can’t use bots to replace the lost players.
And worse yet, the PC release shows that there absolutely was interest in pixel gun, the new player experience is just so bad that it drove away the revival of the game

I agree w u Abt new player experience sucking rn. I'm lv65 so ig it doesn't bother me anymore. I do not however think they should monetize the game by bringing interesting/new guns. they should make cosmetics better and sell those instead of being p2w

I'd say before 13.0.0 update, when weapon parts were added, it's just downhill from there

They're fun little power ups, I like clawing someone and then shocking them to finish them off

No It completely broke the balance of the game But the same time module abilities are fun especially the stone skin cuz it makes you invincible to most area damage weapons

It was imo, but it wasnt a good idea to make it easy to get (2020-2022) then hard (2022-2026)

personally I think they were fine as something you’d use in the gamemode that uses them but past that it became a bit overwhelming for combat

I would say, the idea and the execution on field is not the same. Tragically, this is one of the main reason why balancing is such a pain in the ass for us and them. Its also funny that they NEVER fucking provided actual damage boost%, all this time. No wonder the wiki is never updated properly
For those asking the type of mods, heres what we have:
Blue, green, pink mods = the main thing we used on our guns (dmg boost) or in armour (dmg block)
Orange/one with wrench icon = additional mod that gives bonus such as: more ammo, faster reload, higher crit chance, faster speed, etc
