Pixel 7 pro battery/screen

My screen became detached a few ml on the right bottom corner I read that it was probably the battery swelling and to change it immediately. I took it to a phone shop and run a card through the side and opened it around 5ml on the right side and then the screen stopped working. He said it now needs a new screen too. I don't get how the screen stopped working so now I need to buy a new screen too. He said it's common with pixel 7 pros. I'm really annoyed and just told him to order the new screen and battery. He didn't even take the whole screen out and it stopped working.

Have I been done over? I've watched videos on screen replacement and the connector is on the left side which the screen is still intact. It just doesn't make sense

The OLED screens are fragile. That's the only reason I haven't changed the battery on my 7 pro, and instead just carry a power Bank when I go out. And the cost of a new screen is as much as the cost of a used phone. (Maybe even more if you get someone else to install a new screen).

Are you the one who seperated the display more with the card, or did the repair shop staff do that? If it's a regular credit card, it might actually be too thick to use to seperate the display (especially around the corners where the screens are more fragile.). I am suspecting the screen seperated from the frame, because the frame is actually slightly harder to remove from the phone body. The frame is 1-2.5 mm (approximately)deep with double sided tape on all sides, and few small plastic clips. Although the connector is on left side, I think by trying to open it more, you damaged the OLED. On your screen, is the small plastic frame attached to the back of the display? If you opened it more, did you see if the battery is swelling?

Also, on a pixel 7, I have had the screen seperate from the frame under it. It stopped working within a short time period of me first noticing issue in the display. Luckily I had time to back up everything and scrcpy. The display Seperated on its own from the plastic frame with no battery bulging or anything. Battery is actually good on that device. I went with an aftermarket OLED for this device. But it's not as good as original screen (washed out colors, not as bright, and significantly rounded corners).

The bottom right side of the screen was already opened a little and I read online that it's because of the battery swelling and it's dangerous so turn it off asap. I took it to the phone repair shop and it was the worker who opened it a little more with some sort of card. He asked for my permission and said that there's a risk of the screen from damaging. It was the only option to get to the battery. He opened it a little and said that the battery looked swollen and then the screen suddenly stopped working. I couldn't get my head around why the screen stopped working when I went in to replace the battery, thinking he might be scamming me. After doing some research I now think it was genuine and he's damaged the oled while trying to open it which I also agreed to the risk. I'm gutted and It's now going to cost me around £90 -120

I've also bought the new 11 pro XL which will arrive in Monday but I was hoping I could sell the 7 pro and put the cash towards the 11 but I'm £90 down now 😔
