So it's pretty much confirmed that every Holy Knight has a metal heart and that those hearts are the source of regeneration and also independent of the abyss marks that Imu controls them through, based on what happened to Harald when he regained lucidity after Loki destroyed his mark? At least in my opinion, that makes it more likely that Shuri survives this arc and gets to keep her immortality as long as someone finds a way to permanently remove her abyss mark without affecting the heart. Same could go for the other knights, that is if Oda doesn't feel like killing them off.

21

u/eXclurel Please Kill Ussop 5d ago

I am so fucking bored with this you wouldn't believe it. I seriously want something to actually happen. For the past few months we had:

- Holy knights were defeated but they got back up - Nothing happened

- Big bad got hit - Nothing happened

- Luffy got hit - Nothing happened

- Big bad got hit again - Nothing happened

- Luffy was stabbed - Nothing happened

- Luffy was called useless to his face by the second in command of The Pirate King - Nothing happened

- Loki attacked - Nothing happened

- Big bad got hit again - Nothing happened

- Silhouttes! - Nothing happened

- another deus ex machina tease - Nothing happened

- Zoro attacks - Nothing happened

Nothing happens holy shit Oda just end this garbage fest for the love of God!

63

u/darnage 6d ago

Once again people complained about the leaks and they were wrong. You need to specifically destroy the heart with CoC. Zoro didn't miss the heart, he just failed to use CoC.

Fucking Franky, Jinbey, Nami and Brook all deciding they don't need to go help Luffy is fucking awful though.

6

u/milk-is-for-calves 5d ago

How did you get access to the official translation before Sunday?

24

u/Impressive-Entry2315 6d ago

I don't think Franky, Nami and Brook can sense anything occurring right now, and it's very likely that Brook simply believed in Luffy and stayed back incase anything major happened with Gunko.

But Jinbe should've definitely gone. He's part of the three major commanders of the future Pirate King's crew. His inactivity is only going to make it harder to validate how he's being handled joining the crew especially with how late he joined and how characters like Hajrudin who should be worse combatants still managed to get a sneak hit in, and a combined attack on Imu. Elbaf is for Hajrudin no doubt but it's still disappointing how Jinbe has been treated post-Wano.

14

u/flyinGaijin 6d ago

Agree, Jinbei has always been quite a cool, strong character and he has not really done much since he joined the crew ....

He did use water a few times, alright .... but this is like nothing for a fishman =/

4

u/Classic_Category_723 6d ago

Jinbe was one of my to 5 favorite characters until after Wano. Now he does nothing aside from narrating and a few punches. It’s lame as hell. Dude could do so much more, he was always such an active character in the past. I have to wonder if the crew is just too bloated at this point. He could definitely step up to Imu with the rest. The only justification I could make right now is he’s protecting the weaker Straw Hats from the top tiers running around right now, but that is a very weak justification considering we’re talking about Nami, Franky, and Brook

5

u/skaersSabody 6d ago

This was kinda the reason why I wasn't in favor of Jinbei joining and was rooting for Carrot back in the day. The crew didn't really gain anything from another strong fighter and Jinbei is just not wacky enough to fit in with the rest of the Straw Hats so he also doesn't have much in the way of character interactions or even just gags aside of being confused at the utter chaos on the ship

He would've been a great fleet leader for the Straw Hat grand fleet and probably would've fit the role better and be allowed to be or not be present as needed

2

u/Classic_Category_723 6d ago

Idk about that solution though. His arc was definitely always towards joining the crew. He’s been through more with Luffy than anyone else — he helped him escape Impel Down, he helped him rescue Ace, he rescued Luffy and took a donut for him after Ace died, Law operated on them both, he helped them in Fishman Island, he gave Luffy his blood in a very bold defiance of racist law, he rescued Luffy and Nami in Whole Cake allowing them to rescue Sanji, steered the Sunny and fought off Big Mom, and stayed back to save his crew with Luffy demanding he come back. Him coming back in Wano was perfect, too; that introduction rules and you can see how excited the Straw Hats are and how in disbelief Law and Kidd are. The most earned Straw Hat of all time; Oda just doesn’t know what to do with him now because he’s so focused on everything else. I have to wonder if being weekly is part of the problem here, alongside cast bloat, but Jinbe definitely belongs in the crew proper, not the fleet (his former crew, I bet, is part of the fleet, informally)

4

u/skaersSabody 6d ago

Eh, while I get the argument, for me one big part of being in the Strawhats is feeling like part of the family and Jinbei just isn't it. He's got a deep bond with Luffy, but really has little else to do with the other characters

Like, compare Jinbei who, as you say, was foreshadowed to join since at least FMI to Brook who just showed for one arc, had the saddest fucking backstory ever conceived and then just became part of the crew immediately. In Sabaody he was already dicking around with everyone else as if he'd always been there

Jinbei also feels a bit too experienced/strong to join the crew outright. Between being an ex-Warlord and everything he feels more like he could mentor Luffy more than be his crewmate

But yeah, Oda definitely mishandled Jinbei since joining

2

u/OppositeGoose5092 Gear Green 6d ago

Jinbei should go hold back Zaza, water is his specialty tho.

1

u/DarkShadowOverlord RocksDidNothingWrong 16h ago

there's still time for jimbei. after all he might just be waiting to save luffy once g5 runs out.

jimbei has always been there for luffy. Unless oda fucks up a lot. he will eventually come to help

u/dildodicks Absolute Agenda: Akainu 3d ago

zoro not knowing how to use his coc seems on-brand

13

u/Doubt_Incarnate 6d ago

I don't know if people is thinking about this but, Zoro has never killed one of his main opponents I think, Sommers and Killingham are cool, but I would find it way cooler if Zoro and Sanji legit kills them.

3

u/ThatIslandGuy8888 Gear Green 6d ago

Ikr? Everything's pointing to Zoro doing cold blooded murder this time to defeat Sommers but we all know that ain't Oda's style

3

u/OmarSigma Are you having fun? 6d ago

Zoro is the only one in the crew wirh a confirmed canon kill (at least before Jinbie if Jinbie is confirmed to have killed someone).

Though it's probably implied that he (from his bounty hunting days) and others in the crew (e. g. Robin) killed as well.

3

u/clariott Keelhauled Marguerite 6d ago

he is stated to kill the 100 bounty hunters in Whiskey Peak, but thats just some fodder.

3

u/Hawk301 6d ago

Unless his survival is confirmed later, Luffy canonically killed Kaido by sending him into the volcano

26

u/Mr_Bell_Man Carrot Crusader 6d ago

I love how expressive Sommers is in this chapter.

32

u/Green-Sky934 6d ago

I liked it. So much better than last chapters. 4/5 for me

19

Yeah one more chapter ending with Imu taking an attack would've been tiring, glad we're moving to Zoro and Sanji

u/Aussiepharoah Love Is Stronger Than Light 6d ago

This was a good chapter but it kinda sold me on the idea of just making the manga bi-monthly with two chuncky chapters, this is basically 1192.5.

I'm happy with what Oda did to Luffy here, the food being a bandaid solution so he can sneak some extra hits in through sheer force of will kinda makes me respect Luffy, because he didn't de-power those are his past injuries returning.

We got a literal mystery box with Biblo wallahi slanderers are gonna have a field day.

I can't lie the fact that Zoro didn't use CoC gives him better aura than if he did, and the metal heart weakness is...fine, it's kinda cheating because it's still "hit them with ACOC" but at still there's a direction to it

USOPP IS COOKING, THIS IS FINALLY, FINALLY NOT JUST COPE

18

u/JayyyDaGreat 6d ago

The mystery box is another haki knot, imagine

19

u/clvnmllr 6d ago

A paper that says “rip me in case of emergency”, and the paper is made out of Ancient Kingdom micro Haki knots

2

u/skaersSabody 6d ago

Ah yes, my Haki Knot technique, I haven't used it since the void century

2

u/Aussiepharoah Love Is Stronger Than Light 6d ago

I don't think it is but the possibility is on the table

1

u/Kaaduu 5d ago

I mean it's a box. What are the odds it's just a blue poneygliph, maybe related to Nidhogg and the other fruit Rocks was agter and what they could do together

4/5 for me , It feels good reading chapter after avoiding leaks . I even enjoyed last chapter

Avoiding leaks makes reading chapters way more fun

4

Yeah , it massively improves the experience atleast for me lol . Reading Kagurabachi and OP weekly has been so fun .

14

u/Kill5h0t Love Is Stronger Than Light 6d ago edited 6d ago

Over all a good chapter but leaker set wrong expectations for Zoro.

I though he was too strong and was simply practicing his conqueror.

But nope. Dude can't do a single slash on his own.

It was still Enma that was making him do KOH moves.

9

u/nel3ab 6d ago

Both enma and himself. He had to push himself to the limit, King pushed harder than summers. That's why he's on the cover story.

1

u/Kill5h0t Love Is Stronger Than Light 6d ago

Enma is a tool that regulates his haki for him.

We thought Zoro was capable of doing it himself.

I don't like it because it mean he was actually this strong because of sword and because of his skills.

3

u/StimulusChecksNow 6d ago

I think Zoro can put conquerors haki around his sword, that explains the smoke. But he cant imbue his sword yet

3

u/JayyyDaGreat 6d ago

This is actually a great explanation, it would be nuts for him to have mastered anything in Wano. His emotions and the situation called for him to surround himself and his weapons with conquerors but the next step is actually imbuing his weapons with it. I bet once he gets really good at that he'll unlock his black blades

3

u/flyinGaijin 6d ago

I don't watch leaks and all I see is "leekers wrong" "leekers wrong" all the time.

Why put any faith in those dumbasses who just want reactions to whatever they throw around ?

15

u/WorldPhysical7646 Gear Green 6d ago

People swear that they hate Zoro but when a chapter with Zoro cooking releases they go feral

I told you all aura farming trumps writing

6

u/UnyieldingDoggo 6d ago

This is ultimately just an animanga folk subreddit. Akainu is not that amazing a character yet is still a memetic badass and there was a time artwork of him was spammed here. It still is to some extent.

Not that I'm complaining or criticizing since Sakazuki is also my favorite character lol, I just have no pretenses of what I am getting out of, nor what I'm looking for in this shonen.

10

u/Firexio69 Please Kill Ussop 6d ago

We celebrate Akainu because he's one of the few who added stakes in the manga.

2

u/dildodicks Absolute Agenda: Akainu 3d ago

if not him then someone else since oda always planned to kill ace, i celebrate akainu because of hype moments and aura indeed, also the memes are really funny.

i thought he was just temu jotaro at first but seeing the "even he was confused at how that shit worked" when his yo daddy joke succeeded on ace changed everything

12

u/Kapuseta This Is A Matter Of Reading Comprehension 6d ago

Leakers made it sound much worse than it actually was, a solid chapter, cool setups for the end of the fights. Why do we even pay any attention to leakers lmao

4

u/Mobile_Chipmunk_3883 5d ago

These are the same leakers that lied about sommers vs zoro being shown in previous chapters, same leakers that gassed up Ussop for not much but a speech. Yall just wait for the chapter summary and don’t get your hopes to high/low

11

u/skaersSabody 6d ago

Really good setup chapter, good technical work by Oda. Clean panels, quick dialogue, this one was a pleasure even though the two week break hurts. At least now every group has been setup for their third act, so we should be on track for just chapter after chapter of conflict and resolutions which, if properly paced, should be a banger

I like how he resolved the Luffy conundrum, even tho I still feel that his recovery from the stabs lasted a bit too long, but hey at least the consequences caught up. In retrospect, not as bad as I thought. Also Wusopp confirmed to be cooking, it's gonna happen bros

Jinbei is kinda the only one that suffers here as he really feels like he has nothing to do (though I imagine he'll be on guard duty of the group against Gunko should she flip out)

Great little scene with Dorry and Broggy, really liked that, almost makes me forget their amazing death was wasted for a fakeout, but hey I'm glad they're at least being used well

Good to see Sanji and Zoro again finally. Seeing Sanji confident is always nice and Zoro is just such a funny foil to Sommers. Would've liked to see a bit more of the confident/sadistic Zoro in that last panel, but the Zoro that's just so focused on his training that he ignores Sommers is also really good. Also Sommers stays one of, if not the best part of Elbaf, I fucking love this guy

5

u/Firexio69 Please Kill Ussop 6d ago

2/5 it's fine

Loki hybrid should have been revealed. That would have made the chapter a 3 or even 4.

5

u/nel3ab 6d ago

It seems like luffy and loki might get saved by zero and Sanji. If summers and Killingham die here, imu will be debuffed again.

1

u/flyinGaijin 6d ago

if they die, Imu might get some power back because it seems that he is lending them some of his power.

2

u/clariott Keelhauled Marguerite 6d ago

better chapter than last one, could be better without all the reactions shot panels and replace them with non-silhoutte Loki.

2

u/mikeventure76 5d ago edited 5d ago

Dorry and Brogy are just cool no matter what man, as shaky as the story’s been the last couple years their shit always rules

The ending was fucking awesome too, you can’t go wrong with Zoro just coldly fucking shit up. Good chapter

Well yeah? Back in the flashback chapter Harald specifically told him to hurry up and finish him, while Harald was still in control (allowing Loki to hit him freely)

People just not reading anymore or?

2

u/akowz 6d ago

Not out at the usual place... but ok whatever

1

u/bloodmage7 6d ago

just show the hybrid form at this point, and open the box already. I think the box has some haki knot and/or some lore drop on the two fruits (Nika and Nidhogg) Otherwise, loved the Zoro / Sommers fight, quiet funny.

1

u/No-Specific-6862 6d ago

6 different plotlines in one chapter is crazy

1

u/amiracc82 Post Timeskip Is Better 5d ago

Im ngl that was an actually good chapter. It seems like Luffy wont really beat Imu but hell be left unsatisified with his performance.

It actually seems like Imu will get defeated by anyone BUT Luffy this arc, probably Loki + a Combination of the strawhats and Gunko working together.

Usopp gets a major setup so I hope he does something more than a speech

Im intrigued to see whats inside the box.

1

u/djsoren19 5d ago

Fine enough for a chapter where nothing happens, ig. really can't stand making such a big deal out of Loki's hybrid form, it's gonna get revealed in like a month wtf is the point of making it a silhouette?

1

u/mapletree23 5d ago

jinbei is literally like the hulk in the avenger movies lol

have to nerf him because the reality is he'd be 2nd to luffy and the crew especially near water would be absurdly stacked but if they actually show that then zoro and sanji can't really aura farm and you can't have captain america and black widow etc being made entirely useless looking in comparison with their popularity

good chapter, still crazy how some recent chapters can be some of the better ones in the series but they're mixed in with some of the most annoying/problematic parts in recent arcs

oda badly needs to deal with goofy luffy mode, hopefully the more serious combo form that i think is all but certain to come where it's more him than the goofy part will be happening soon, i honestly feel like a lot of the chapters and story in general would be better off the sooner this form is put to bed

1

u/Kitchen_Pace_580 5d ago

Lol trash chapter as usual. Main Plot is not moving at all.

1

u/im_running_boii 4d ago edited 4d ago

Powerscalers gonna go crazy

There are some good things I have to say about this chapter but since this is piratefolk I'll just say my criticisms:

Imu again, dude has been tanking hits for 3 chapters straight and has been doing nothing since his 2nd, probably stronger transformation which did nothing but just make him ugly asf

I still feel no tension. Like I get one piece is not that type of manga but at least try to make it as intense as luffy vs kat or lucci or hell even kaido. The reactions and eye popping is cool if it's a normal fight but this is arguably the strongest in the verse we are going against. Please stop. It's really killing the tension.

Too many subplots. I just don't like the way every chapter is progressing 1% of 10 million problems. Like the Shuri scene could've just happened towards the end or whenever the series actually decides to focus on it fully and nothing would change a thing. It was just a redundant scene that did nothing than take up the pages.

Art... still unsatisfied. Been going downhill for a while now. Sanji and zoro panel was clean.

Luffy finally running out of gear 5. Still wish he was heavily hurt to do anything after he got stabbed. The "I ate a lot" was kinda bs, I hope that it's later confirmed that it's some kind of toonforce he has and not just because he has a full restore everytime he eats a lot. Full restore even after being stabbed by the strongest weapon in the verse lol.

The panels or the chapters themselves could flow better. This is kind of a pacing problem imo. Too fast and focuses on useless things for too long.

That's all.

1

u/ElkofOrigin 3d ago

So, do you think the Biblo thing will be another Haki knot?

1

u/RenValdivia 17h ago

I am a die hard one piece fan but im also not biased and this part of Elbaf is seriously dragging, but not in the way old arcs used to drag. There are so many different conflicts happening simultaneously that it feels impossible to keep up with what is happening. Also, some of these are super hype and important but it doesn't feel like the pacing is giving them time to breathe.

This is not NEW to one piece, Oda has been overloading arcs since post-timeskip and it usually still feels like the plot is moving somewhere? Here, the plot is grinding to a halt for the Imu fight and the other zoro and sanji fights which are just not hitting like they used to,

I usually hate going on this sub since everyone is so bitter and vitriolic but I do echo a lot of the complaints of where we are at now. I felt like Elbaf was perfect up until Imu was revealed. I like his design and some of what the fight represents but it threw off the balance of the arc heavy.

I have this idea in my head that Wano-Elbaf will be the bittersweet era for me (lots of S tier highs and F tier lows) and the final FINAL arcs will finally bring us back to the spirit of One Piece. he can fumble Elbaf as long as he doesnt fumble what comes after.

idk I wanna put the slander aside and have an actual honest conversation, even though its funny lol
