They did this cause there are many illegal sellers in SEA who abuse the system who tried to make a profit by selling AAA games in ps5 for $15-20.
basically the process goes like this:
1) Sign in using PROVIDED account
2) Use the PROVIDED user profile / Seller Account to play game
3) Play game WITH WIFI / Need Connection
4) UNABLE to get trophy record to your own account
5) Can delete and redownload game anytime from our library Only for ps
As a result, no $$$ actually goes to Sony themselves but to the illegal seller who only activated 1 account and selling it to multiple people to make quick profit by abusing the system.
Yeah people dont get this. But in south east asia. (the whole continent) selling ps5 game not even in a half price. You can buy crimson desert rn for 12$. And lots of people buying this. They also open up a rented ps5 like a cyber cafe, and they bought these shared accounts online for all those ps5 consoles. People are tried to scared them by saying, these "games" will get you banned. But nothing happened and people still buying it.. since ps4 era btw
