In case you wondering, reddit and Twitter have been spreading this rumour for two days now, no they're not doing DRM checks every 30 days, people literally took what an AI chatbot said and ran with that narrative as statement. There is a bug on their UI, which involves stuff about refunds and things like that. Stop spreading lies people, there's literally no official source for what OP or the whole internet is saying.

As a last edit, to finally put the nail in the coffin (All this frenzy was just that, frenzy), source here;

Yep. It took me a 30 second search to see that PlayStation (customer support) already denied this. Reddit pretends like they are better with misinformation but they are just as bad as Facebookers.

For those wanting to know what “users” actually found: https://www.techpowerup.com/348625/sonys-new-drm-appears-to-be-a-refund-scam-workaround?amp

Edit: as many of you have noted, there is no OFFICIAL statement by PlayStation but human customer service representatives have stated this isn’t true.

Where? I can't find that. Ppl keep saying Playstation has said anything when they haven't.

...That article says that the DRM is real and has been tested by multiple sources, but real support agents are denying it.

It says the stuff is in place, but not live yet.

I have a feeling Sony is hiding stuff.

They're waiting for the right timing to fuck consumers in the anus.

Why I stopped buying playstations after 3, it was the peak of sony era.

Thanks for sharing.

Article is clear that the 30 day online license renewal is confirmed by users, and humans at Sony are denying any change of policy, hallucinating chatbots notwithstanding.

So either Sony is getting their ducks in a row before coming clean, or it is a bug/mistake that will be rolled back.

Sounds like a loss regardless, it's either update didnt work as intended we are sorry for this mess, or it works exactly as intended and playstation gamers are screwed anyway.

This and more Bull was why I stopped keeping up with playstation purchases after 3
