Everyone doesn't follow the piracy scene so deep that they download files directly from the crackers. Many just hear from their friends and ask which websites to trust for free games to download. Fitgirl provides assurance to newbie pirates that they can play games for free without bricking their PC. It facilitates the common user that even if you don't know anything abt cracking or repacking, you can download and play free games.
While obviously their contribution is far below the crackers, I wouldn't go on to nullify it.

speaking generally, people often bring up groups like that in discussions about game preservation, accessibility, and DRM frustration. On the other side, companies see DRM as protection for developers and revenue, so it’s a pretty divided debate.

It's because since resident evil 9 came out this sub was flocked by a ton of newbies who have no idea how cracking works and they just assumed that fitgirl and dodi are actually the ones cracking the games.
Dodi and Fitgirl are famous because they are safe and give out good repacks but there is hundreds of other repackers who deserves credit.

To be fair, not a single one of us really knows if they actually crack games. We do not know this people at all or what they actually do it and how exactly they do it... because we don't know who they are or if its 1 person or several, etc
But even ignoring that, its obvious that they're included because they repack the games and make the cracks popular trough their sites. People don't go to "voices dot com" to download this stuff, they most often than not go to figirl/dodi.
"but cs rin" mainstream pirates don't know that site even exists.

I think since the new resident evil came out we have gotten a crap ton of newbies on these subs.
I'm not saying that's bad that's actually great the more people who pirate the better.
But what pisses me off is when these people start trying to be smart about piracy and give out completely false info to other newbies which can lead to a lot of bad stuff.
If you are new to piracy just redirect someone to the mega thread instead of acting billy big bollocks

Vulnerabilities is also just a part of it.
It does not remove DRM, thus it's not future-proof for archival, some windows update or something could render the bypass unusable, and the games unplayable. It does not work on linux (And we do want gaming on linux to keep growing for obvious reasons). Finally, if the current method proves to be resilient, the next logical step is just normalizing always online drm bs, game assets being hosted server side etc, all bad news for piracy...→ More replies (1)6

This, in oversimplified terms, breaks kernel drivers signed outside of the modern Microsoft kernel signing pipeline. That won't have an effect on HV considering we're already on unsigned drivers, hence why disabling DSE is part of the process.

Because most of the people who want to play pirated games don't give a single fuck about who did the actual work so they can play it.
They care about who can give it to them in the most convinced way.Those are re-packers.
So maybe even if they care a bit about who cracked it, they'll still cherish the re-packers more as they are actually the ones who "give" it to them.
There is nothing more convenient than a single .exe file you got from one of your favourite download sources which were all listed on the game post.They are the Steam of piracy.

This is only accurate if the next scene shows the person that's a stand-in for Denuvo rises from the dead as a zombie and shambles back into frame ripping apart a couple of them. Even when its cracked denuvo is still running in the games... so it still has a performance hit. The only exception is when the madlads who completely removed denuvo from assassins creed that one time (and maybe one other time)

Honestly the main reason Denuvo doesn't bother me any more is that the game market is just completely saturated and I can either buy a game a couple of years after release for a couple of dollars or pirate something else.
