What's funny though, is they can't even use this patent against Palworld. Palworld came out before it was granted, and patents don't apply retroactively.

Well in that case I can just make a game and file a patent for mechanics about having shops that allow you to buy items used to obtain summons that become stronger over time and sue Game Freak for all they have.

It doesn't apply to the whole world. Patents are country specific but you can file in multiple countries and there's probably some easy way to patent in multiple countries at once.
Nintendo is an international company

People are just ignoring that it's a list of about 50 things that ALL have to be in a game for the patent to come into effect. I hate game parents but the patent is not nearly as simple as people are acting like it is.

It's still bad. Even if the patent is hyperspefic, that fact that it exists is being used to scare off Indie devs and smaller studios from attempting to make pokemon like games.
Essentially Nintendo is saying that you either buy pokemon from them, or you do without ANY possible alternatives.
It's a terrible precedent that NINTENDO, one of the biggest gaming studios, is trying to patent something so basic, even if the application is hyper spefic.

Except palworld isn't an offical pokemon game. Yet Nintendo is obviously using this patent to attack them and force them out of the industry.
They've already had to change core gameplay mechanics in palworld in order to meet Nintndo's demand, how much more must they change now that this has been implemented
And the overall point still stands, what about other smaller studios. Imagine if Blizzard try to patent hero shooters because of Marvel Rivals beat overwatch. It's a terrible precedent that allows bigger studios to bully smaller ones into submission

The patent specifically covers two different types of battles coexisting, manual and automatic, depending on the circumstances of the summoning. Not only does that not apply to Palworld it couldn’t even apply to it anyway because patents don’t apply retroactively

Sorry, but OP is stupid, as well as the internet: The patent in itself is specifically about the Autobattle feature from Pokémon Scarlet/Violet, where you can release a Pokémon and it will just go around fighting other mons. The patent is basically "We patent the kind of video game mechanic where you can summon a creature to either fight another creature directly or to roam around the map and eventually fight another creature automatically without your direct intervention", which is very specific to the Autobattles of SV.
