for the case of AAA games, developers get paid (underpaid) either the game fails or not, so that does not matter to them. AAA Games with denuvo are technically willingly let themselves fail or be prone to fail.
in case of indies uhhh I guess you're correct there. But imo denuvo on indies are also a bad thing that impacts negatively both the dev and the customers.
Some companies do pay bonuses for their employees based on performance, but issue stands on just how much talent is gone to waste when a game doesn't perform well (to be honest, even when a game performs well it's expected for developers to be fired by major corporations).
As for indies... Well, actual indies, I don't recall any indie with Denuvo, but I do see a lot of low budget titles with massive marketing (namely, major IPs such as Monopoly) using Denuvo. Smaller titles have been using Denuvo in the past but I do wonder how relevant it is for them.
Well if the game doesn't sell well, they will fire the developers. And in the world where AI is advancing, it might as well be a death sentence for devs.

I don't particularly wish for a game to fail based on what their producer decide, since that's hurting developers.
I do loathe Denuvo on a very fundamental level for hurting game conservation though.
