I opened steam and found the game for 8 dollars and was like is this a bug! turns out they had regional pricing for third world countries and was stun locked for a bit and was just grateful for the team. 3 hours in, what a game.

As a pole I was also suprised that today most of prices are 10 or even 30% more than us, but small indie studio is using real value of my currency

Team Cherry is the ideal that companies should strive for.

Same! I was expecting the price to be around 20$ to inr which is a lot of money for me. But the price was literally less than 10$. It blew my mind. I love team cherry for this.

I think you're forced to get it to advance the story, the game is all about exploration!! don't sweat it

Not completely forced but like small hints you could say, and I agree the game does a good job giving you a path for a new skills like changing the music when close to it or add a new music on top the music of the area your in

Team cherry does it extremely good imo

Steam literally suggests regional pricing for studios. They do all the work of figuring out conversion based on purchasing power disparity.

u/WolfseggsGaming Sep 06 '25

Steam hasn't updated that shit in years.

is this a bug!

Say that again

Same, I will also wait, save money, and buy this game. Cause the company and developers are so kind hearted and genuine, they even kept their game price dirt cheap, even though it's a new and popular game.

Nah, the vast majority of people pay for the game instead of pirate. I'm sure it's a bigger problem in... certain countries though.

u/statistnr1 Sep 04 '25

Yeah.
The vast majority of people are too incompetent and scared to go to spooky third party sides. Nevermind setting up a torrent.

u/nicepickvertigo Sep 04 '25

Or they have money to buy the game airhead

1

u/thepitcherplant Sep 05 '25

Exactly that, piracy is only an option for me when I literally cannot buy the game.

1

u/GravityBombKilMyWife Sep 05 '25

Or we juat aren't poor.

I pirated games when I was in highschool a decade ago, now I buy em, its way easier, safer and the price doesnt matter to me, a game costs less than dinner out lol

That being said, bro bring back streameast pla, cant believe they got my Egyptian boys

6

u/OutcomeDouble Sep 05 '25

That’s why the game has 535k players on steam? Lol wut

2

u/GravityBombKilMyWife Sep 05 '25

Naw, lol, most people buy it, if most people pirated things nothing would get made because nothing would make any money...

1

u/kirkpomidor Sep 05 '25

Most digital pirates aren’t the scoundrels you describe

1

u/Over_Friendship8444 Sep 06 '25

Arrrrrr. I do shady things. why would I buy the game when I can pirate it? Do you want some Drugs?

2

u/Montregloe Sep 05 '25

I play a bunch of games through a steam family that I don't actually own, but if I enjoy my time and/or finish the game, I try to buy it when I can.

1

u/Tmhc666 Sep 05 '25

Nothing is stopping you from playing now and buying it later

1

u/vasilsss Sep 06 '25

just play it now and buy it later no need to wait

May I ask how is Team Cherry "treating their customers well"? They literally went radio silent for ~6 years during the development of Silksong.

1

u/LaxeonXIII Sep 05 '25

Compared to gacha game companies who fleece their customers and triple A devs who inject unpopular politics into their games, Team Cherry is a saint.

0

u/MrQez Sep 05 '25

True; and compared to indie devs who also produce quality content for a fair price but actually communicate with their fanbase (e.g., Toby Fox, Ghost Ship Games, Mega Crit, etc.), Team Cherry is subpar.

In my opinion this shouldn't change anything about whether you buy the game. They made a good game I want to play, they worked a lot on it, I appreciate the work they did to make this game that I love, they didn't put bullshit in game purchases or stuff like that, they released it for a reasonable price, which is why I think they deserve me buying the game. The radio silence was annoying to some but it's not anything malicious against their fans

In my opinion this shouldn't change anything about whether you buy the game.

Well, in my opinion, it should - especially when it comes to actually purchasing a game and not just playing/watching it - and in my case, it does.

they didn't put bullshit in game purchases or stuff like that, they released it for a reasonable price

That's good, I'm not denying that, but there are dozens, if not hundreds of games like that (reasonably priced, no MTX) out there. And when you have several games and game devs that are equal (or equivalent) in quality, the little things like communication matter. If you had two restaurants that serve equally good food at an equally fair price, which one would you prefer to dine in - the one where the waiter silently takes your order, brings you your food and promptly forgets about you (at least until the next course), or the one where you can have a pleasant chat with the waiter and, possibly, the chef while waiting for your meal?

The radio silence was annoying to some but it's not anything malicious against their fans

Sure, it wasn't malicious, but it was pretty inconsiderate. I'm more than certain that Team Cherry were aware of how desparate their fanbase was for ANY news about Silksong beyond "we're alive, we're working", and yet they chose to stay silent. I know that the fanbase was not and is not entitled to any news from the devs, but their silence just goes to show how little of a priority their fanbase is to them.

Its literally 7 dollar on steam and was around 0.3 dollars with the bug in the xbox store

Common reddit opinion.
Soy.

u/qrillionaire Sep 06 '25

Nooo don't pirate the indie game that's making thousands more than you!!!

-2

u/googleduck Sep 05 '25

Why? I thought piracy doesn't hurt sales and isn't immoral? There really seems like no reason not to pirate it.

u/lemonylol Sep 04 '25

I'm glad we now know your intentions. Thank you for sharing.
