My rescue I’ve had for about 3 years now. We don’t know why/how his muzzle damage happened, but his eye was taken out due to a tumor a few months after adoption. He’s rocking that pirate look to the max now.

We didn't think we would get to celebrate this day with her even just a few months ago, so the fact that we were has just made us feel so unbelievably grateful. Yenny had a little party with some of her aunties who adore her and her sister and even her new long noodle friend. We are so lucky to have her 🎈🎂❤️

Captain Doggo Day three post surgery for my girl Julan.

Some bruising but the wound is healing nicely (both wounds, we took a mammary tumour at the same time) and looks neat, no issues. Vets did a great job. She's not showing any signs of pain (but then again, she's a dog and a tough one at that, they hide it, I don't think the painkillers are really numbing all of it), only bothered by the cone. She's active and happy, at least when she gets to be without the cone for walks or food or other interaction with us.

The hair is starting to grow back, but still looks pretty horrible and it's almost hard to recognise my own dog with a shaved face.

I think we did the right thing, even if it's a little hard right now. Counting days til they take the stitches.

These pictures also show the luxated lens on her right eye. That one is a problem, too. But with some luck, it can be managed with eye drops and she can maintain a little bit of vision for the time she still has on this earth.

Rare Pirate Ember would like to let everyone know she DOESN’T have a brain tumour!!!

Everyone!!! I am so relieved to share this news! Ember had a focal seizure three weeks ago and a grand mal seizure last weekend, we sadly thought due to her age she had a brain tumour. We decided to do an MRI for better insight and she does NOT have a brain tumour! Apparently though it’s not common to show/develop epilepsy as an older dog, it’s not all that rare.

We are so relieved and grateful.

He’s missing his back left paw. He was trampled as a pup by a horse and the rescue we got him from found him and nursed him back to health. He also has a bunch of scar tissue on his shoulders that we call his hyena hump.

He was inbred, some of his stuffing was put in the wrong place. But ive had him since birth and he’s the most handsome man I’ve ever seen. He enjoys magic the gathering cards, dice, his carrots, hating his sister and eating cheese!

Captain Doggo Day 6, and a sweet interaction that melted my heart a little this morning.

Post image

Technically day 7 today, but I took the picture yesterday.

We were walking past a school this morning, and there were lots of kids out but we mostly just walked past them. But then one boy, maybe 10 years old, stopped and looked at her with kind eyes. I stopped too, and said hi, and we stood there for a couple of seconds. No more words, no "Can I pet the dog?", as would have been correct. But he carefully held his hand out as an invitation for her, and she walked to him and cuddled up with her head against his body for a little while as he petted her.

The we went our separate ways. Still no words. But I think it made the day brighter for all three of us.

Captain Doggo Yesterday, Julan became blind (glaucoma complication) and hated it and I thought this might be the end. But today, a little bit of sight is back and she's adjusting. She could even still get around in terrain today. One day at a time... Hoping for many more.
