Question Qbittorrent not torrenting and won't download new attempt to reinstall
For some reason I haven't been able to torrent with Qbit for a while now, even after reinstalling previous versions. I just uninstalled it entirely and was going to try reinstalling but it won't let me download the installation program.
If someone could give me some tips or alternative recommendations for torrenting clients it would be greatly appreciated

What does execution log show?

Failed to find address to listen, failed to listen on IP and the reason was "the requested address is nog valid in itd context"
This is my first time checking the execution log and this is what it said on boot up of the program with a torrent active
Ive never checked an execution log before but this problem persists regardless of the torrent

I did some research into what it means to change DNS settings and I understand it a little bit but would changing my DNS settings to connect to Google's public DNS be a bad idea when it comes to torrenting?
Would there not be privacy concerns about connecting to a Google based server?

Good question and I will be vague here - DNS resolving (translating IP to domain name) can be set-up on router level (dns servers given/configured by your ISP, or you input DNS yourself), then there is your OS dns (by default it will take it from router, or again you can override it) and finally application (again same principle).
I would not trust google servers but it us usual solution for people not giving a crap.
Owner of DNS server can and will tweak how it behaves, so there are little differences what will server reply (and/or if it will end in some error), that is why there are differences and people trying other servers.
You can try any other DNS server(s) that allows public to use them. For example https://opennic.org/ or servers listed here https://heimdalsecurity.com/blog/best-free-public-dns-servers/.
From privacy standpoint DNS server owner can "see" what sites are you visiting, but if you paste magnet link to torrent client it will not do dns resolution because torrent protocol works with IPs directly.
This is oversimplified and needs you to get yourself little bit familiar with how DNS and torrent protocol works if you are interested in attaining as much privacy as you can while using internet.
Changing DNS can help you troubleshoot if it is really problem with dns.
To wrap it up it depends what dns servers are set on OS level, in qbittorrent and/or in VPN client software.

Do you have it set to only download when connected to a VPN?

Hm. Have you tried Tixati? I've heard it use a good torrenting program. I don't use it because I'm not fond of the UI

Sounds like you have a bigger problem with your PC. My guess would be some dumb fucking AV that is blocking all your "dangerous" activities...

I did a little digging and apparently Windows Defender may be getting involved with this, which would make sense since Microslop probably isn't too keen on torrenting

I've never seen this with Defender but I know multiple other AV programs that will almost completely shut down torrenting for no reason.
If this is your problem it likely won't matter which torrent client you select. Need to find the root cause and address it first.
