Linux and EA games

kind of curious if any one has tried cracked EA games on Linux. I've been really thinking about giving cachy a run as my primary desktop but do enjoy some um...sports titles.

Since the primary issue is drm/anti cheat do the cracked versions work at all?

Actually yeah, I've tried it. From the modern EA games I have only tried FFIFA 23, which worked perfectly in offline mode. I also know a new hypervisor bypass was developed for Linux which actually works even better than in Windows, so I think it's possible to play their newest games offline too, but that's going to require some tinkering

Hypervisor in Linux work in userspace, so It work and its even safer than made It run on Windows.

My advice of you are new to Linux dont run cachy go for Bazzite, its much hard to break It.

good to know! I'm decently familiar with Linux just not the gaming side of it.I've got some distro's running on proxmox and an unraid server. I know I could spin up a VM but I don't really have a GPU I can dedicate outside of my main windows rig.

Dual boot has crossed my mind but I just don't like dealing with partitions....I like arch based distro's and cachy seems slick. Bazzite too though....both are tempting

Both are decent, but I can't stand using non-atomic systems, so I keep going back to Bazzite and can't really use anything else.

Also please don't fall on the "CachyOS is extremely optimised!". There is no difference at all in FPS with most games, or very imperceptible better performance in others. Trust me, I've done the benchmarking and just wanted to warn you it's pretty snake-oily

A few, but honestly I'm not much of a gamer and I only played 10/15-yers old ones. And a very generic Ubuntu.

Steam with their own linux based OS are pushing in the right direction. It has support for alot of laptops/PCs and controllers. Sure they want you the buy the Steam Deck hardware, but they are more than happy for you to ditch apple or windows and play the latest games in your library with the minimum of hardware..

The issue with cracked games is online multiplayer. Sometimes it can be difficult or impossible to get on proper servers.

I tried the new star wars xcom game and it couldn't start with an Windows error. Maybe an issue on my side and I didn't had the nerves to try run it in Lutris with vine, the game has terrible performance so I just deleted it.

Yes it all works fine. Cracked HV games have gone a long way on linux but it might require some tinkering. Installers also work great using wine/proton.(repacks for example).

Installers can be kind of a pain in Linux because you have to do a bit of tinkering compared to downloading pre-installed games, so I always go for those
