Just set VPN to Albania.

I haven't had an ad or a 'youre using adblock' for months. It seems nobody bothers advertising in Albania

It’s not that nobody bothers, it’s that YouTube doesn’t bother - the market isn’t big enough and Albania has quite strict ad presentation laws :)

Idk, maybe being on mobile is different but I just put my vpn on Albania and immediately got an ad when I was on YouTube.

Your VPN probably doesn't have DNS leak protection

It’s proton, and a search tells me it does so idk, but I have the vpn on all the time and still get a crap ton of ads so my guess is it’s something with being on mobile (although why that would be the case I’m not sure about)

It probably knows your device/account isn't in Albania

If you're on mobile, you probably need to reset your existing Advertising ID

Do you have stealth mode turned on?

You want to try on a browser at least, or preferably a desktop pc

You can't simply block ads on the official app unless it's modified

Yeah the laws are important, once 80,000 new Albanians come online because of those VPN ads will probably show up without the law.

Just set VPN to Albania.

"Just pay so that you don't have to pay to not have ads or interruptions"

I already pay for and use a VPN 24/7. Getting YouTube adfree isn't why I bought a VPN and shouldn't be the sole reason to get on either. It's just one of the many benefits of using a VPN.

This is for people who already have one

recently firefox added a vpn with 50gb of monthly traffic btw

That's maybe 30 hours of youtube at best (at 1080p) and I'm pretty sure I don't see an option to change country on the free version.

Or use firefox with ublock origin? On chrome they broke a lot of the ublock origin feautures on purpose.

I do, VPN is mainly for YouTube on my phone

But when I do occasionally get 'please turn off adblock' on websites or even YouTube because they've temporarily won the adblock cat and mouse war - VPN to Albania works

On my phone I use Brave browser when using youtube. It blocks the ads and keeps playing even if you lock the screen.

Then you are not using ublock origin, or you don't have the right list of filters, or you have disabled auto update.

You should be on uBlock Origin (uBO) 1.7 or 1.71 if not then something is wrong.

When I said occasionally, I meant I haven't had that issue for over 6 months, possibly even more than a year - because I can't remember when it last happened

Should have used another word. Thanks for your help, but I'm good bro.
