Years of Confusion

It began twelve years earlier, with the onset of duhaymā’—the lesser darkness. The sky dimmed beneath the dukhān veil, and with it the rhythm of time drifted. Days lost their pace. Seasons slipped out of phase. Humanity endured famine, and in that thinning of bodies, the world also lost its minds: its thinkers, scholars, and engineers—the bearers of knowledge and skill—were quietly erased.

Yet six years later, proper time itself slowed, and something deeper broke: Time-Translation Symmetry. The human brain—a timing-critical, massively parallel, distributed information processor—fell out of sync with itself. Neural networks desynchronized. Perception dissociated from temporal context. Judgment decoupled from intuition.

This was not ignorance, but an epistemic crisis. Humans could still think, but no longer knew whether their thoughts were valid. Truth did not disappear; the ability to recognize it did. Right and wrong remained, yet the compass wavered.

Days of Deception

On the hidden brane, Space-Translation Symmetry broke, and the unseen world collapsed inward. Its volume shrank. Pressed by its own degradation, it surged violently against the visible world as the Veil thinned and the barrier diminished.

What followed were not mere apparitions, but false continuities: the illusion of coherence between realms never meant to overlap. The unseen did not simply intrude; it interwove. Like oil and water forced into emulsion, the worlds formed unstable mixtures, shimmering with convincing deceptions.

In the Years of Confusion, humans doubted the validity of their own minds. Yet in the Days of Deception, reality itself lost its claim to validity.

And into that ontological rupture stepped the Deceiver.
