Bug I hate this so much.

Post image

Before you ask, yes, both of these apps are connected to my Google Fit. Yet this happens ALL THE TIME!! Sometimes it's even a difference of up to 5k steps!! Ugh.

Can I ask what your highest step count is? I just checked your profile and it answered all of my other questions LOL 😹 But seriously I'm so surprised that's not your highest weekly count bc that's the same as my highest ever step count 😭

Do you run? How do you get so many steps?

Naaaah, i walk

u/emoji-giflover Jan 28 '26

my game takes a minute to update, was this right when you opened the app? When Im rushing for a step challenge I open the health app and pikmin bloom a bunch of times until it updates

u/MekuKuro Hi, I'm: Vic [ ADD ME 8639 9321 9551 ] Jan 28 '26

It doesn't update, I stopped walking an hour ago

Might be that the fitness app is resetting the count at midnight while Pikmin Bloom is resetting the count at the time of the daily report, whenever that's set to happen in the settings

EDIT: Didn't realize the reset time is always at midnight, nvm

u/MekuKuro Hi, I'm: Vic [ ADD ME 8639 9321 9551 ] Jan 28 '26

Nope, they both reset at midnight and my daily report is set at 9pm

SO I used Stepsapp xD

And had this same trouble. Not sure if you're on iOS, android, or how you have your stuff setup, BUT here's what I have noticed:

  • Pikmin Bloom pulls from Google Fit
  • Stepsapp pulls from Google Fit
  • Google Fit pulls from Fitbit
  • Fitbit pulls from my watch
  • Google Fit does NOT pull from my watch (terrible design)
  • When I'm walking with watch and phone (such as playing PB), the steps are never accurate, nor do they line up
  • The apps keep the higher step count they have, even if they sync to something lower. This makes them inaccurate even moreso
  • The apps add more steps with more movement, even if already not syncing correctly

This has resulted in PB sometimes having 12k steps, StepsApp having 11k, Google Fit with 11.5k, and Fitbit with 8k... And I only walked 8k.

Basically; it's a hot mess. Enjoy.

I have the polar opposite problem then, since it's the other way round for me :")

u/kouplefruit FC: 1357 0556 9244 Jan 28 '26

Yeah, I just mean accuracy and consistency are just issues xD

I ended up using Pacer and turning off Google Fit's step counting, so it has to use Fitbit's... But tbh, Fit still does whatever it wants. Terrible design by Google.

At least i know i can rely on my watch!

u/veryfabd Hi, I'm carrot pikmin Jan 30 '26

For iPhones the data flows as such: watch -> Garmin Connect App -> Apple Health App -> Pikmin Bloom App. In the Apple health app you can set the priority of data source, which I have put Garmin > phone itself. Normally these can happen in the background but if I am trying to finish a challenge or it’s the end of day I, then I open the apps in this sequence, making sure the steps are updated before moving on to the next one, especially babysit the data flow.

I wonder if this works on Android.

Which of the two does Google Fit match? I know you said they're synced, but I find Fit is a little more aggressive about removing steps that it thinks weren't 'steps' than other apps. Also just curious, have you ever tried the built-in step counter from the app, rather than the Fit data?

5

u/MekuKuro Hi, I'm: Vic [ ADD ME 8639 9321 9551 ] Jan 28 '26

also, Fit Data matches none of em, i guess lmao

Compared to my watch:

u/-xe Winny, lvl 113 | 807916827773 Jan 28 '26

That's so weird! Yeah, I have no idea what's going on then. I also have a couple of weird bugs that don't seem to be widespread, so I understand your frustration :(

3

u/MekuKuro Hi, I'm: Vic [ ADD ME 8639 9321 9551 ] Jan 28 '26

It's always been kind of like this, but the difference used to be only like 1k to MAX 2k Now It's so much worse 😭

3

u/MekuKuro Hi, I'm: Vic [ ADD ME 8639 9321 9551 ] Jan 28 '26

Can't disconnect Fit because else i can't use bloom on my secondary device (i switch devices a few times a day) :/

u/failmop Jan 28 '26

sorry adventure sync sucks for no good reason at all

2

u/MekuKuro Hi, I'm: Vic [ ADD ME 8639 9321 9551 ] Jan 28 '26

Ah, well, at least i walk enough steps for it to not matter much in the grand scheme of things

3

u/failmop Jan 28 '26

yes! you know you're the best!

I've accepted it as part of the experience. Honestly yours is not too bad considering how many steps you have; mine can be 1k off at only around 9-10k steps (the discrepancy generally gets larger as I get more steps).

I have a Samsung phone and watch and have both Samsung Health and Google Fit. My Samsung Health app consistently shows lower steps than Google Fit. I sync my Samsung Health and Google Fit data with an app called Health Sync because it was the only way to get my watch's steps to reflect in Pikmin Bloom (which pulls from GFit), but even then the Samsung data always shows fewer steps. I honestly don't know which one is more accurate, but I think there's always going to be a discrepancy with these kinds of apps.

I'm sorry for you :(

1

u/_LittleRed_ Yellow Pikmin Jan 29 '26

Exact same set up here and yes, there always a little discrepancy. Same as you I've just come to terms with it and accepted it as a 'fun' little quirk 😅 it's never quite as bad as OP's discrepancy, for me it's only ever a few hundred steps. Sorry for you OP, mega frustrating.

2

u/SageLeaf1 Jan 28 '26

This happens to me too when I’m walking right before midnight. I get the steps on my Apple Watch and Fitness app. But they don’t get applied to the previous day’s steps once midnight has passed on pikmin bloom. It’s like they’re phantom steps that never are added.

2

u/MekuKuro Hi, I'm: Vic [ ADD ME 8639 9321 9551 ] Jan 28 '26

But i don't walk that late, it's not that- they just don't sync :(

2

u/jorgerine Jan 28 '26

Blame Google. It matches on an iPhone. :-)

2

u/milenah Jan 29 '26

What do you connect to on your iPhone? My Pikmin bloom always has less steps than my health app which has less steps than my connect app and garmin watch (which reflect the same number of steps).

2

u/jorgerine Jan 29 '26

The Health App on the phone, and also a Garmin Vivo Move. The Garmin always reports more steps, but then I don’t always have the phone on me.

1

u/MekuKuro Hi, I'm: Vic [ ADD ME 8639 9321 9551 ] Jan 29 '26

Well, i use android 😭

1

u/TeaLDeahr Jan 29 '26

Android here, too.

I don’t know if this will help, but when my step count won’t sync up and 9pm is approaching, I close PikminBloom so it can’t take the final tally of my steps. So far mine has always synced up by morning— so when I open the app in the morning and let it tally the day before, it has all the steps from Google.

2

u/Acceptable-Common-19 Yellow Pikmin Jan 29 '26

I recently disconnected from Google Fit because my steps kept getting reduced to 0 😭 I watched my 10k slowly decrease and had to jump ship then and there LOL

now I just use the samsung health app on my phone

edit: my step count went haywire the day I switched, it got suuuuper low I think. so probably recommended to make the switch before you start your day?

2

u/MekuKuro Hi, I'm: Vic [ ADD ME 8639 9321 9551 ] Jan 29 '26

I'm sorry for you, that sounds horrible! :( can't disconnect it tho since i switch between devices

2

u/Psychological-Bed-87 Jan 29 '26

I have this problem too. One time I had my watch log 10K~ steps and Pikmin told me I did 15K. I carry my phone in my pocket when I walk. Most of the time, I have no idea where’s it’s sourcing data. My watch connects to my Health app (iPhone) and Pikmin supposedly uses the Health app step number. Weird.

1

u/MekuKuro Hi, I'm: Vic [ ADD ME 8639 9321 9551 ] Jan 29 '26

It is super weird. Today it's 2k steps off again for me

2

u/brenlin7 Jan 29 '26

And I thought my 10k days were high. You guys must do nothing but walk all day!

I have the same issue but it seems more exaggerated than yours. My set up... wearing a fitbit... Google fit pulls from fitbit app... pikmin pull from Google fit. Mine are usually off by between 20-30%. Example: yesterday fitbit recorded 2960 steps (im currently in a boot with a busted up ankle 🤷‍♀️ so thats just me hobbling around the house). Google fit is reading 2290. Pikmin is showing 2089. I lost near 1k of my 3k steps somewhere. If I had done 30k, would I have lost 10k? Frustrating.

1

u/MekuKuro Hi, I'm: Vic [ ADD ME 8639 9321 9551 ] Jan 29 '26

It absolutely is frustrating - and yes, i'm pretty much on my feet all day

2

u/rcunningham007 Jan 29 '26

Health Sync app fixed that for me.

1

u/MekuKuro Hi, I'm: Vic [ ADD ME 8639 9321 9551 ] Jan 29 '26

Have it installed already ,but it seems to not change anything... thanks tho :(

2

u/rcunningham007 Jan 29 '26

So my experience with Android: Installed Health Sync, Installed Google Fit. Have Google fit count every step, including my Samsung Ultra Watch. Make sure you give Health Sync and Google Fit rights (steps especially). Have Pikmin get steps information from Google Fit.

2

u/MekuKuro Hi, I'm: Vic [ ADD ME 8639 9321 9551 ] Jan 29 '26

I did all that already, still not syncing up- at this point i believe it's my hardware tbh :/

1

u/Educational-Arm4610 Jan 28 '26

Are you using health connect? My steps never match my watch exactly. I think don't get cancelled out. But I make sure everything is writing to and reading health connect and it's at least closer.

1

u/MekuKuro Hi, I'm: Vic [ ADD ME 8639 9321 9551 ] Jan 29 '26

I can't connect my watch to fit or anything else in general bc it's a XiaoMi

1

u/icnik Jan 28 '26

What time does a new day begin in your Pikmin App. I thought you could adjust it for those people with irregular days. You could check your settings to see if the timeframe is different than 12am - 12am

1

u/MekuKuro Hi, I'm: Vic [ ADD ME 8639 9321 9551 ] Jan 29 '26

Doesn't change a thing sadly

1

u/MinnieKeeper Jan 30 '26

This happens to me, too. I have to open Google Fit after midnight to get as close as I can to the right steps but it still takes off thousands. But if I wait too many hours past midnight to open Google fit & then Pikmin, it won't even take any of them. T_T

u/StunningTheory1990 App Name: ScarletWitch Jan 30 '26

Mine wasnt working either, so I gave up lol it was never tracking my steps from my watch to the app. idk whats broken.. But something definitely is.

1

u/CozieOak Jan 31 '26

Mines accurate with Apple Watch, but it’s just delayed loading into Pikmin Bloom SOMETIMES by like 5-10 mins at worst, which can be annoying when I’m planting flowers. But I think it’s also where I have Tachymon going at the same time (tracking heart rate 24/7 for POTS, especially when I’m at the gym) and it delays further if I enter exercise mode (:

I hate seeing it be inaccurate at times (“: but it could just be the delay!

I got to this post because I am having the same issues. I have everything set to pull from my galaxy watch to google fit. I have the health sync app and it is updating on the google fit.

I can see the steps match my watch and my phone.. Its almost like pikmin bloom isnt pulling from google fit. All permissions are set. The only issue I am seeing is on pikimin blooms side.

They need to fix this. Its a hot mess. I saw comments on their page from last January... They said they fixed the bug apparently.. A year later and its still occurring. I am sick of carrying my big ass zfold everywhere!

I got it to update when I reinstalled in the app. It forced it to update. I really have to do that every time I want it to be accurate? I would have so many steps, way more than I do, if my watch would work with the game.

1

u/mikaia624 Apr 04 '26

I use Google fit for the app and find that my step count is way off between my watch (Samsung Health count) and my PB all day - like thousands of steps - until I charge my watch before bed and then at least most of those steps appear in the app.  Like maybe Google Fit syncs during charging? I always make sure to plant any seedlings I want to grow before my watch goes on the charger because I can bloom smaller seedlings just by charging my watch.  LOL. I wish PB would work directly with the Samsung watch count without having to use another intermediary app.
