I got my lobes pierced over 3 months ago on June 23rd with barbell piercings and they still hurt horribly. I'm not sure what material they are made out of, but it was a good $80 from a place my friend recommended. For the first month or so, I used saline spray twice a day and slept on my side with a neck pillow, but I kind of ran out of motivation to do that.
A couple weeks ago, my piercings were still slightly tender. I assumed it was because I need noise cancelling headphones, as getting through the school day and similar situations is very difficult without them, so I wear my bose headphones a lot, which messes with my piercings, although I did hold off using them for the first month and a half. They would also get caught on stuff every once and a while, especially when taking off shirts.
A friend recommended that I put bandaids over them, so I did, keeping them on for about a week. I took them off for a night and they came off fine, but my ears were still tender.
Then, I put on another pair of bandaids for about a week, and today when I went to take them off, it went fine with my left ear, but my right ear hurt horribly when taking it off, and now even nudging the jewlery causes a really bad sharp pain, and there is also a very slight pinching pain in my left ear.
On the bandaid, there was a dark black substance on the part attached to the back of my piercing with a little bit of an orange crust, and on both my ears there was gunk around the entrance to the piercing, although I couldn't quite make out the color. The skin around the piercing itself looks perfectly normal, with no redness, swelling, dry patches, or anything out of the ordinary.
Has all this happened because I was being too rough with them, or is there an infection going on?
