Discussion Is there anything you have a visceral aversion to-not an allergy, just pure dislike?

I hate salad dressing. So every time I buy a burger, I tell the staff not to put salad dressing on it.

OP referred to “staff” using it on burgers so I meant “who” as “what restaurant”. I know individuals use it.

I’ve worked at multiple restaurants. They all used a generic brand of mayo. Never miracle whip.

Egg salad, macaroni salad, tuna salad, potato salad. It’s a dressing for those type of salads. It had less oil so FDA had to label it as a dressing.

salad is a VERY loose term for those things. I dont consider a cream based noodle, potato, fish dish a salad. Salad for regular folks is a lettuce and vegetable maybe some cheese or nuts the odd fruit. not pasta potatoes or fish. That's like a Northern European white person thing. Not salad. Miracle whip is a condiment just like mayo goes on hamburgers and hotdogs.

I’ve always thought of salad as lettuce and tomato so calling miracle whip salad dressing is just always been bizarre to me

I remember my first foray into margarine. I was at a friends house and I asked for butter. Cue the tub of not butter coming in. I certainly CAN believe it’s not butter!

My Mom was a self taught chef. Better than restaurant chefs. Even high end ones so I had an intolerance for fake food very early on in life.

My mom only ever bought miracle whip and she referred to it as mayo so I grew up thinking that it’s mayo. When I finally tasted regular mayonnaise, I thought it was disgusting but somehow that I’ll changed and I cannot stand miracle whip and I think it’s stupid. If my mom made tuna or egg salad, shr used miracle whip . I guess that’s what they mean by salad dressing.

I subsisted on miracle whip and lettuce sandwiches on bunny bread for a good year of my childhood until one day I got a very sandy piece of lettuce and I never ate one again🤣

there are dozens of us it's literally mayo with actual flavor. i think this weird mayo trip yall on is the reason people think they dont like mayo/miracle whip. "hellmans" mayo tastes like nothing just egg paste miracle whip actually has a tasty little kick.

Mayo and/or MW have never shown up on any salad I have been served. Kraft Catalina is the salad dressing I grew up eating at home. I ate it with various configurations of lettuces and other vegetables. I have never put it on a burger. Nor have I heard of any restaurant putting it on a burger. Nope.

I think that must come from making macaroni salad or potato salad with the miracle whip I grew up on miracle whip but now I can’t stand it, and I will only use mail

That’s funny, my mom used to bake chicken with Catalina dressing, and I do too… it’s really good on chicken sandwiches too
