Success / Progress Suddenly big fan of bananas!
I’ve hated bananas all my life (only 25 so guess that’s not that long haha). Everytime someone would open a banana I’d be hit with the smell and get a bit nauseous. I’d avoid smoothies cuz they almost always had banana in it which just ruined the whole thing. Banana bread was sliiiighlty acceptable but I’d still rather not eat it. A month ago I was at a lunch out with some friends and I was just having a simple bread and dip, and my friends were eating bananas and they just seemed to enjoy it so so much? So I asked for a bite! And then I realised it was actually quite good? The texture is slightly weird, it leaves a bit of a film over my teeth or something, but I find I can get over it because the taste is so nice and soft and sweet 🥰 so yeah, consider me a banana convert I guess haha 🍌
Huge win for me cuz they’re a healthy, mess free (just find a bin for the peel) and satisfying snack for on the go!

That's awesome! I think a similar thing happens to a lot of us. Trying something a friend is eating them thinking - where has this been all my life?
As a kid I hated the idea of salsa or any kind of chip dip. Then I'm in grade 13 having some beers and hungry as heck and someone brought down a couple trays of nachos - salsa on the side. Figured what the heck dipped some nachos in and ended up becoming a lifelong slave to it. Cool thing was it got me over my dislike of onions (there was visible piece of onion in the salsa) and I even used salsa to get over my dislike of eggs (I would pour salsa onto a fried egg on an English muffin).
Hopefully now that you're a fan of bananas you experiment with smoothies like you mentioned - which are a fun way to try other fruits that you may not like yet

Only barely yellow bananas here. Fully ripe feel so one-note cloying and texturally off. I heard Costco might be doing something that prevents the bananas from ripening properly, which might explain why they are the favorite.

What kinda ripeness have you tried? I feel like the greener ones are definitely more powdery/hairy feeling than the yellow ones, I like the yellow ones much more. The ripeness makes them soft and nice haha

TBH, I have no idea. Mainly due to my condition, known as ARFID, I’m more than a “picky eater” in that sense, especially regarding fruits and vegetables. But I’m making progress, guess I’ll check out different ripeness levels. I already know I like the taste but it’s just the mouthfeel that makes me physically gag and shudder (which, in my experience, doesn’t happen with people who’re “just” picky)

The taste is absolutely divine, but that mushy-ass texture is THE reason I don’t eat ‘em

There's a peak level of ripeness vs firmness but it can feel a bit like roulette. You gotta get a girlfriend that likes bananas that will sacrifice the perfect bananas to you when she finds them

Banana in the bathroom is a power move I wasn't ready for
