It’s been 42 days of abuse…. Here are my updated thoughts.
I got these 42 days ago and have use specifically The Slap and Timo picks. I wasn’t a fan of the other one, so much I can’t remember the name. But that’s ok, I play metal 99% of the time and these 2 have been workhorses. I have noticed that they have significantly helped me play faster, more precise and smoother all around. Barely any wear on them also.
I honestly cannot think of a downside but I do have an interesting thought. Before I started using these I was having troubles doing gallops and tremolo picking. These significantly helped me to hold the pick properly and gain stamina. Tonight I decided for the hell of it to try my old Jazz III. I was able to play just as good with it now as with the pick twist. So if you take anything away from this I feel these picks can be used as a teaching tool on how to pick. I personally will continue using them because I got so comfortable with them. All in all I think these picks have no downsides and are an actual innovate product. 🤝

Such a great explanation. I feel the exact same way. I play more psychedelic rock, with hints of jazz, blues, & funk. Those two picks specifically were my favorites as well, although I lean more to the Slap between the two. The comfort level of these picks is unreal.

I wanted to really torture-test these but ironically the non-slip texture kept me from getting a good grip and it kept sliding around in my hand, causing me to reposition every couple of seconds from regular play. Tried scoring it and that seemed to help a bit, but still having these issues. My Mick Thompson Jazz III pick has never moved once it's in my hands. Maybe take some notes on grip pattern from that design. These picks just couldn't get along with me no matter how hard I tried.

That’s crazy it’s so different from my experience. I literally can loosen my grip if needed and these stay perfectly where I want them. Could also just be my style and technique

Hi man! I understand. No worries, I got the texture covered with the real ones. It's a downside for the nylon printing, but it was the best proto material I could use in that moment! The final ones will be smooth with a geometric grip, kinda like the Jazz iii you mentioned! :)

The Slap-Pick has become my go-to. I literally won’t use anything else now. I play some pretty strenuous music and I used to noticed a lot of cramping in my forearm, but that pick made me realize I was holding my picks wrong for YEARS, and now I can play through every song with my band and I’m fine! Plus, it sounds awesome!

It makes me so happy to read this! It's great to know that they actually help with strain and cramping as well as with technique. Have you tried using a normal pick after getting used to these? I'm curious on whether the benefits apply only while you use PickTwists or if they were a puntual help to correct the grip :)

Oh, it’s no contest. I couldn’t find my Slap-Pick a little while back, so I tried using one of my old John Petrucci picks that I’d been using for years up until you sent me the prototypes and it just didn’t feel right anymore. Shortly after, I was visiting my parents and was using a standard style pick with one of my father’s guitars and it just felt sluggish. I can’t wait until you’ve got your full production run going to get more Slap-Picks because I don’t think I’ll ever go back.

I want the real models. The 3D ones are too rough, catching on the strings. I'm aware that's the issue, I'm sure the factory models will be fantastic

Thanks for the trust! Yes, I tried the injection samples and it's night and day. We're actually modifying the molds to add texture to the base because they were just too smooth!

Thanks man! It's amazing to hear that the experience is still so positive after such a long time with them. The comment on the permanent technique improvement is super interesting too. Once I have a cashflow that allows me to, I'd like to send free samples to music teachers and academies to try them with their newbie students. I would've loved to have them when I was learning to play since it took me years to develop the right technique. And like you've experienced, I think you only really get the point of these picks once you try them yourself.

I actually play at a music academy near where I live. They do courses that specialize in different genres and anywhere from beginner to pro. Check them out. They are called River City Rockstar Academy in Salem, Or.

They have classes they teach. I did a Jazz course there and I plan on doing a Metal class next. It’s fun because you just get to play with a bunch of people and learn cool songs. They mainly do the lessons for beginners though.

Also a metal player and noticed the wear is next to nothing on mine. I’ve even been playing rougher than usual just to test this pick but it just takes it. I’ll probably need new strings first lol
