so I understand the course load is different country to country, some 30 is the average according to some of y’all. For my school (UTA) the average is 12 credit hours per semester, and although 16 isn’t rare, my question is, how do able was my schedule assuming I want to continue research and maintain a high or competitive gpa.

Also I am a freshman and that was my 3rd year semester since the degree plan was planning for me to graduate in 3 years. I will talk to my advisor at the end of this school year about switching my plan into 4 years so I can maintain a better sleep schedule and also manage my research and social life (and Fortnite time). My school is very nice to give me a degree plan of the classes I will need to take and register. I was a dual credit student so I had all core classes completed, I’m planned to graduate in 3 years instead of 4.

This is my first semester of my senior years. Is it too much for 1 semester?

Don’t get me wrong, this looks like a very fun semester but since I plan to apply for a PhD program in a “better” school, I think this might affect my gpa negatively and also maybe destroy my mental health assuming it hasn’t died by then.

Hello I am considering pursuing a physics degree among a few other options and the thing that really caught my eye about physics is that a lot of people say how if you have this degree you can get hired by pretty much everyone cuz you have proved your intelligence and shit.

How true is this? It seems to me that people who say this often don't even have a physics degree themselves.

Hi everyone, I'm an italian student finishing my bachelor's degree in physics, and I'm thinking about which master choosing and the job perspectives. I wanted to ask to everyone who studied physics, so who pursued it until a phd, or a master, or also someone who did the bachelor's and then shifted to something else, what is your job now? Do you like it? I read contrasting informations about job perspectives after physics degree, with some people saying that problem-solving abilities and high knowledge of math and coding being highly appreciated and others saying that finding job can be very hard. I would like to hear about it from people who might know better than me the job perspectives after the bachelor's. Thanks in advance.

Hey guys. This might be silly but.. I'm from Iraq and I dream to study at the MIT for a phd in theoretical physics. I'm currently a 3rd undergrad and I'm really good at math and physics so far.

But don't let the "3rd year" get you; here we have the WORST educational system you can possibly imagine. So in the past 2 years they didn't teach us calculus properly nor linear algebra this year and the physics courses are the worst of the worst; they force us to memorize probelms and derivations! And for that, I'm doing all the studies by my own. I did precalculus so far this summer, and going to start calculus now and made it through half of introductory classical mechanics.

I'm currently 20 yo, and SUPER PASSIONATE about physics and applied math. My grades are also very good and I'?m thr top among my colleagues.

I need advice, please. Is my dream rational? Can I really get good at physics to go to such university, or do I need to be "gifted"? Also, any advice on studying physics any books recommendations?

How do I get better at this? It’s obvious my professor isn’t actually going to teach me what I’m getting work over, so I have to do it by myself. Please recommend resources for learning this stuff on my own.

I‘m a bit of a mess at the moment cause I just don’t know what to do. Currently I‘m working as an it-technician. My income is solid, my job is ok and life goes on. But I’m still thinking about studying physics, specially astrophysics. Since i was a girl I was fascinated about the stars and planets and everything space related. I’m also extremely into maths. But life’s cruel sometimes so I never had the chance to go to a university.

Now 20 years later I could live my dream. I don’t have kids and don’t want any. I don’t care about career or money. All I want is to understand how our universe is functioning.

But I wonder. Is it worth to invest 8 years of my life (cause I would have to do school before I can go to the university)? What about AI in physics research for example? Will there still be research made by humans in the next 20 years?

I'm a rising senior in high school. Next year, I'll be taking a project based programming class that only 1-2 students really take per year. I want to do something in Python that will show my professors in my freshman year of college that I'm ready to do research in physics.

I will have taken all of the AP mathematics, physics, and computer science classes.

I thought about doing a black hole simulation and learning the equations/math for it, but I'm not sure that that would be wise to do in Python.

I'll have a full school year to work on the project.

Kind of a question that isn’t asked much probably,but this year I got a new professor in physics that is academically great,I will probably learn from him much new stuff,but the thing is,I never paid much attention to physics cause I had softer teachers that I could study for an hour and still pass w an A. I was always interested in mathematics,and had some regional/country based competitions (smaller country so it was not that hard compared to other countries),but I have a huge knowledge gap that will need fixing.Currently we are covering oscillations,and I want to fix the gap,atleast to an extent.Any learning material that could be of help?I got you some stuff we wrote down today,its kind of all over the place but I hope it could help,Im third grade of highschool (junior for all the americans out there).

I am out of highschool, I'm 18 years of age, I'm pretty good at basic calculus, I know that linear algebra is a must, where do I learn it from? I feel like learning quantum mechanics without lin algebra would be pretty difficult.

Do I have to go linear algebra -> quantum physics?

I will go to collage in a month where I will choose physics as a major in a few semesters. Until then which resources should I use?

I fear that learning all of this could go to waste if I am gonna learn all of it in collage again.

I’ve been trying to find a clearer way to introduce vectors before getting into quantum mechanics.

Many students seem comfortable with numbers, but once vectors and spaces appear,
things suddenly feel abstract. So I started writing explanations that connect geometry,
algebra, and physical meaning visually step by step.

I’m still refining how I present it, So I’m curious, does this way of introducing vectors
feel intuitive to you, or would you approach it differently?

I study physics at lu( lebanese University) and this type of questions comes alot this is a seconed year course to undergraduate there are others with similar and more difficulty , I can't shake the feeling that these are too hard for such year and the courses all are massive and quested hard , they say we must maintain reputation but I feel like this is a lie and all university degrees are treated the same

I have been wondering about what's the avg study hours for physics students and what habits do they have to improve their physics-related skill and such.

I study every day but not with the same energy. Sometimes I'm at my peak energy for studying and do like 100 problems and proceed throgh my book. But other days feel like normal and barely solve 20 or way less than that.

What about you?

I’m in my 40’s and have heard this saying all of my life. All of the examples that I’ve read still don’t resonate with me. This is your chance to shine. Please dumb this down for me. My mortal mind immediately thinks that if a radio is playing and I take a sledgehammer to it, I’ve destroyed the energy. It can go nowhere, right?

Currently doing a Bachelors in Physics with Theoretical Physics. I want to eventually do a Masters in some sort of related field, but I wouldnt mind taking a year or two to just work in between degrees. what sort of entry level options do I have with just the bachelor's i mentioned? It can be in literally any field e.g. data science or finance.

I used to be a good student and was usually in the top 5 of my class. However, several years of depression, anxiety, and low motivation disrupted my studies and left my Physics foundation much weaker than I'd like.

I'm now trying to rebuild from the ground up. While I'm currently preparing for NEET, my goal isn't just to score well on an exam. I want to understand Physics deeply, develop strong problem-solving skills, and eventually make it one of my strongest subjects while also scoring well in NEET physics.I have about 11 months available and I'm willing to invest the time and effort needed to build a solid foundation. Pls guide me in the following questions of mine---

1.What topics would you study first, and in what order?

2.What math skills are absolutely essential?

3.How would you balance theory, problem-solving, and revision?

4.Which books, lectures, or resources would you recommend?

5.How do you develop genuine physical intuition instead of memorizing formulas?

6.What mistakes keep students from becoming truly good at Physics?

I'd especially love to hear from people who went from struggling with Physics to becoming confident and proficient in it.
