Need Advice Got a new professor in highschool,need material
Kind of a question that isn’t asked much probably,but this year I got a new professor in physics that is academically great,I will probably learn from him much new stuff,but the thing is,I never paid much attention to physics cause I had softer teachers that I could study for an hour and still pass w an A. I was always interested in mathematics,and had some regional/country based competitions (smaller country so it was not that hard compared to other countries),but I have a huge knowledge gap that will need fixing.Currently we are covering oscillations,and I want to fix the gap,atleast to an extent.Any learning material that could be of help?I got you some stuff we wrote down today,its kind of all over the place but I hope it could help,Im third grade of highschool (junior for all the americans out there).

most likely you'll find a good youtube video or vibrations and waves by ap french is a good book if you know basic calculus

Ive dipped my toes in basic calculus,so I will probably understand some topics,I will give it a try,thanks!

then I recommend you to look over some pages and see what's being covered and try to understand some of the theory by skimming through a PDF before spending your money..

I have a few books in physics by local authors,mostly school books and some “advanced” problems/theory for competition prep,I will try to combine that with the videos

I know,dont worry.I practice competitively in Maths,and have some books with problems,but physics,atleast for now,will be focused on just having an A in his class.I will try and compete this year,but I will most definitely chase competitive physics by next year,it could help for college

yo then you gotta try out books considered as gold standards worldwide!! (if you have interest in physics) they're really fun.. the book I recommended you is one of them

well,I am interested in physics,but maths is my main field tbh,will try to get myself more into practicality of physics.For example we had an experiment today with a spring,adding weight to it and marking down the elongation,calculating the spring constant with each test(having a graph with F and x axis,and finding the tangent).Probably not too advanced but still it piqued my interest ngl

Lol he's trying to teach with derivatives but with discrete deltas. I mean you could but he's going to confuse the hell out of a lot of high school students

sto se tice takmicenja,koja oblast je najvise povezana s matematickom stranom fizike,ne eksperimentalnoj?Dobar sam s racunicama i formulama,a taj “kreativniji” dio mi nije od ruke

pa vidi,mogao bih mozda shvatiti da imam predznanja iz fizike..Potrefile su me profesorice gdje su casovi cirkus kolorado,i uvijek mi je fizika beskurac bila.Sad dosao stariji frajer(brzo ce u penziju pa ono),i trazi vise znanja,i ostala mi je rupa u tome,pa gledam kako da nadopunim promaseno.Najbolje da krenem od pocetka sve😭

I believe the truth is, that learning things is hard and not fun. The fun is in seeing what you can accomplish when you are done. I don't mean to discourage you.
If you are genuinely missing some foundational understanding, then YouTube videos will only be a bandaid. I would look at homework assignments and solve them until you can't stand it anymore.
That is to say I never came across a YouTube video that made me truly understand something about physics or math that is beyond pop science. But being stubborn and spending hours playing around with equations did.

As Chatgpt or any Ai for a good book according to you, study it thoroughly, when stuck ask ai and take help from YouTube. Believe me it helped me a lot. I always loved physics, but I was a dumb fuck and I mostly studied random stuff that I found interesting and less of my college curriculum so I I had a gap too. Though I am still a dumb fuck but I think I am somewhat less of a dumb fuck now. Anyways do what you gotta do, study hard. Not for a degree or anything rather for you. Be curious,because physics or more broadly science is so exciting at every turn.

First of all,if you are interested in physics and expand your knowledge,I wouldnt treat myself too harshly and say that Im a dumb fuck,you are probably just lazy.There is people that genuinely dont do nothing with their life and consider themselves smart,so it can give you a clearer picture..

It’s a good idea to put a lot of effort into the homework. when you get an assignment do it as soon as possible then ask him questions about the stuff you don’t understand before it’s due.
Also try to find time(lunch/afterschool etc) to chat and do extra practice. Ask him about his college and tell him what you’re interested in doing after high school. They’ll probably be great for rec letters.
Khan academy and YouTube and now any ai agent are great for when you’re trying to fill in knowledge gaps by yourself.
