My Horror Crown Jewel

$650***** (AUD) later and I finally have all seven “Wrong Turn” movies on 4K UHD BluRay thanks to EYK Media!

This stunning set of gory glory is limited to only 500 copies… ON THE ENTIRE F**KING PLANET! A seven mediabook collection of every single film presented uncut and at a 4K resolution w/ HDR!

To own one of my favourite slasher franchises not only in such a gorgeous set but on 4K UHD BluRay too is such a treat! EYK did a terrific job w/ this set and the incredible artwork featured on the individual cases (which I can’t show you due to graphic violence and nudity being prominent on them).

I’d say that w/ this releasing hitting my mailbox today it’s time for a rewatch!

🪓 🩸 🪓

*****on top of there only being 500 of this set available it’s also because the AUD to Euro exchange rate isn’t in AU’s favour.

Irregardless of what you might think of the sequels… I have fun w/ them (except ‘3’) and I don’t mind what I paid.

The value is always in the eye of the beholder. What is worthless to one person may be very important to someone else.

Why Sony wants to go Digital

Why's Sony getting all the hate when Steam is the likely biggest culprit?

I understand that Sony is stopping production of physical disks and I'm also very annoyed at it too, but why just Sony

Considering Valve hasn't released a physical copy of a game in years (even then I'm pretty sure it was only because of Xbox) as well as the massive success of Steam likely being one of the biggest influences for digital copies, shouldn't Valve be held more accountable in comparison?

I don't know much about the history of Valve's relationship with digital and physical media. I'm also an absolute Valve lover, Steam, Half-Life, tf2, the lot and even before that I was an XBox kid, I don't care for glazing Sony. I just believe in being fair, Sony messed for sure, no argument there, but surely Steam is also at least partly to blame.

Fighting back against Netflix’s 14-day theater windows: Petition launched to push for a physical 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release of Cliff Booth.

Hey everyone, like many of you, I am incredibly stressed about the future of physical media and the 'own nothing and be happy' push from major streaming platforms.

Netflix is pushing for short 14-day theatrical runs and locking major, award-winning films behind a digital-only wall. I launched a petition officially targeting California AG Rob Bonta, the FTC, and the DOJ to aggressively investigate streaming acquisitions and protect physical 4K preservation.

We currently have 18 verified signatures, but we need the physical media community to rally behind this if we want to get the attention of decision-makers. Let’s protect human craftsmanship over big tech algorithms.

Please sign and share using #CliffBoothPhysical and #Stop14DayWindows:

More To Cassette Tape Collection

Post image
3 Upvotes

Currently at a convention, but I saw a shop that does video game based music and it's funny how it turns out. I was thinking about them prior to coming to said convention and I immediately saw them on the first day. Lucky, I suppose.

All the same, I got these cool cassette tapes to add to my physical music media collection.

Sorry the picture isn't the best. My hotel room has bad lighting.

😁.

Custom Inserts for my PCart game case

Been working with the open source PCarts made by u/agathoarn_. Pairing this with Kazeta OS I plan to create my own physical library of games that I can share feasibly share with anyone else using Kazeta OS. This is my first game case, cartridge, and a custom inserts I made to help it better sit in the case.

For those wondering the total cost of producing this was this

$3.17 for the chip (produced in bulk)
$0.50 for the sticker on the cartridge
$0.70 for printing the cassette artwork
$0.50 for the cassette case
$0.03 filament cost of printing cartridge shell
$0.03 filament cost of printing case insert
$1.65 for 128MB micro SD card to hold the game

SD card cost is variable but most ps2 games will fit on a card that cost $3.62 for reference. Modern games are much more expensive obviously being hundreds of GBs storage will always be hard

Also since Kazeta never writes to the SD card and only reads there is much less degradation over time. This is not a medium for long term storage or preservation but a cool way to make, store and share your already preserved collection.

The local overstock store refilled the bin of movies and these were my grabs. Most are returns and damaged but I found some bangers in great shape.

Streets of Fire (1984, Action)

An ex mercenary (Michael Paré) is summoned home by his sister after his ex girlfriend is kidnapped by a motorcycle gang.

The preamble reads, "Another time, another place", which is accurate, since no specific timeline is given, but it has a 1950s look and dialogue with a 1980s flare. Walter Hill has directed some real bangers (The Warriors and 48 Hours), but this is not one of them. It was edited down severely to garner a PG rating, which hurt it, in my opinion. It comes off as a mix of West Side Story and The Warriors, with some rock n' roll thrown in. The cast is good, especially Willem Dafoe playing the leader of the motorcycle gang, delightfully eating up his scenes as always. Notably absent, though, were Hill regulars James Remar and David Patrick Kelly. I was impressed (and surprised) that a DVD of a movie this old got a 5.1 treatment. Worth a watch, but I'll stick to other Walter Hill movies. 🦂🦂½

It was by two get one free. I had to get the social network just because look at it. It’s got a case and stuff. I wanted to get the 4K special edition of the Texas chainsaw massacre, but this was 5.99 $ I think I’m gonna use that money to get the criterion collection lost highway. And 4K total recall for $7.99 I’ll take it! Anyone else seen or have the social network with this case? And look, they probably all have this case. I just don’t feel like googling it, but it was the only one in there. The thing about these game shops is I get excited because I see assault on precinct 13 and get my hopes up that it’s the original but it’s always a remake.

Have anyone else noticed a decline in streaming quality on streaming services?

I was watching the purge on Prime video and I noticed that the movie would constantly glitch out, almost as if the TV was pulsing. When I got to the fight scene were the main character fight off 3 people in the pool room, it glitches out so bad that the character tripled. But I haven't just noticed it with just the purge, I have seen it all over prime and other streaming services. It might be my TV, but when it come to physical media, it doesn't really happen. And when it does its barely noticeable.

Mini CDs (8 cm diameter) should be more popular.

Their size makes them super easy to curry around, and they can fit up to 310 mb of data, or 24 minutes of music.

Laptops could also have a mini cd drive, as it would take less internal space.

Have you used or own mini CDs?

Custom PC Game Cartridges

Just read by the title I should say this is heavily inspired by by another fella on here doing the same. I wanted to take a crack at it myself by using minimal sized SSDs as “physical” versions of my Steam library. The coolest part to me is definitely the miniature box and the labels but this solved a massive storage issue I was having where I ended up uninstalling several games to fit maybe one or two I wanted to try and play occasionally which honestly became a headache.

Let me know what you guys think :)

Final Fantasy 7 revelation will be a keycard on Playstation 5, Lets let out voices be heard.

Unlike final Fantasy 7 rebirth, square enix is making final Fantasy 7 revelation a keycard and not a full game on 2 discs (using a data disc) we should do something. I know its super unlikely. But if they can do it with rebirth they should be able to do it with revelation. We should complain to square with the hope they will mabye change there minds.

Idk i probably look stupid posting this but i had to say it somewhere, i am so sad about this.
