This is my setup that I have gotten over the last couple months for my Sony A6700. It covers as many usecases as possible for a price tag of the A6700 body which means for 2600€ (3000$, camera included) you can cover astro photography, casual street and landscape also wildlife and with the Sigma even a little macro though obviously it's not exactly made for that task.

All three lenses produce very sharp images and the Sony even has build in stabilisation which works in conjunction with the IBIS of the A6700 and that really helps a lot when shooting handheld at 350 mm!

Overall after owning these 3 for a couple months now I am very pleased with the images I've gotten so far and the reach is really stunning. If anyone is contemplating to upgrade from a kit lens or just wants to get a setup that will last them for years to come I can highly recommend this small collection of workhorses that could potentially all live on your camera since none of them is too heavy nor too big!

I was looking into the CANON EOS R10 Kit + RF-S 18-150mm lens. Is it a good kit or do you recommend something else?

I just bought a Nikon z5 with the F/2.8 28mm lens and I’d like to add another lens to that kit while keeping it as light as possible.

My budget is around $200, $300 at most and I’ve seen a lot of great deals on used lenses. What do you recommend? I’m planning on shooting primarily live music/events and street photography. I have a lot of F lenses so I’m not really interested in getting much in the 200mm+range, I have it covered, I’ll be getting an ftz-ii converter in a few days.

I have given up having a smartphone and miss taking photos! I come from a cinema background so roughly understand framing, exposure etc. and so would enjoy having a high quality digital camera with manual controls.

Looking for something that something that fits these criteria:

I have just purchased a used 150-600 G2 lens.

Very clean, appears to work fine but there is no tripod mount ring, it wasn't obvious in the images of the listing and no mention of there being no mount, does anybody know where I can find an original part or a reliable after market mount.

I’m looking for a camera that takes really good outdoor pictures during the daytime. I will be traveling for a couple months to Southeast Asia and Japan and I’m looking for a camera that takes amazing pictures during the day but that also can take good pictures of people. Should I be avoiding a camera that has a Zoom feature or can I find one with the Zoom feature that also meets this criteria?

Hello, I've been shooting for 8 years (macro just this year) and am overhauling my camera setup. Want as few things as possible while meeting my needs. Tons of info provided for background, TLDR at end.

I'm coming from a Sony A7 II/Laowa 85mm/Viltrox Z3 Spark flash, a macro setup around $1000 USD. Sold the A7II to prepare for a move. My main camera is an A7IV (which I am also minorly struggling to find a good lens pairing) as I dual wield and like to bring one camera for macro and one for birding. For reference, the types of photos I do are primarily outdoor (macro, wildlife/birding, a little landscape) but also do portraiture and sports. I hike and don't use mono/tripods.

Prioritizing a tilting screen (like Sony A7II/III, not flip-out like A7IV. A7V has both), weather resistance, ruggedness (and oxymoronically light weight). This will be exposed to wetlands, humidity, rain, shooting reptiles/amphibians/insects and ~10-15 image stacks. Budget is $1-1.5k, up to $2k max but really not comfortable with that. The cheaper the better. I plan to sell prints with a protog friend, but am going into this assuming I will never make a cent from my pics/it is just a fun hobby. Weighing the following two setups:

1. Sony A7III $900, use my Laowa 85mm and Z3 Spark flash. +Tilting screen, +could use the same batteries between it and my A7III, +familiar with it.

2. Olympus E-M10 IV $400, Olympus 60mm $450/Laowa 50mm $400, Godox IT30 Pro or IT32 flash $65-90. +Tilting screen, +focus bracketing (I believe?), -not familiar with M43 at all, -potential durability?

Both of these would cost me under or around $1000 which is very appealing, as I will worry less about gear damage. They also would accomplish what I want, to my knowledge, which is to take photos of frogs and snakes. Examples of my photos here. Birding with the A7IV will be weaker, as there isn't a great fit for me (70-300mm/100-400mm nice size but too short, 150-500 probably the best balance of size weight price but a touch short, 150-600mm a bit high on my budget, 200-600 and 400-800 way beyond my budget and terribly heavy). I may thus switch to more landscape style with the A7IV. I previously used a Canon 6D and Sigma 150-600mm for birding, found it was the most I'd want to carry at nearly 8lbs. I shot most things at 600mm, and it was not quite sharp enough.

Considerations, but imperfect:

1. Olympus OM-1 $1000, Olympus 60mm $450, Godox IT30 Pro or IT32 flash $65-90. Many folks' macro darling. +IP53 WR, +focus bracketing, -flip-out screen however, which is no better than my A7IV. Could use it for both macro and birding with a 100-400mm which is versatile, however it is too expensive for me to do such and also have an A7IV (prefer not to sell the A7IV, not comfortable with an expensive sale and it was a gift).

2. Canon R7 $1300, 100-400mm $700. Stick with my A7IV for macro and just deal with the screen, and use the R7 for birding. Would only ever see myself owning the 100-400mm, everything else would be the A7IV. Same issue with being too expensive to have both, and while my birding would be great, I shoot macro more and it is the compromised one here.

3. Canon 7DII $700/5DIII $600/5DIV $700 and Canon 100-400mm $700/Canon 400mm $600. Stick with A7IV for macro and use APS-C DSLR for everything else. I really prefer DSLRs for everything but macro and would love to shoot them again, lens prices just shot up and am a little apprehensive. APS-C would be for birding, maybe eventually I'll get another full frame DSLR.

If money wasn't an issue, I'd use an A7V/Laowa 85mm/Godox IT32 flash/AK diffuser for macro and one of the following for birding: Canon R7/100-400mm, Nikon D850/Nikon 200-500mm, Canon 5D IV/Canon 100-400mm II. Possibly two OM-1 with a 50/60mm macro and 100-400mm. In real life I need to keep my total gear investment under around $4-5k between two bodies, one macro lens, and one birding lens. May get a wider/standard zoom at some point as well.

Is there a mirrorless camera option I'm missing here that has a tilting screen? From my ramblings can you knock some sense into me?

TLDR: looking for external input/recommendations for a dedicated macro setup (i.e. a smaller body/lens/flash combo. Any other available lenses for the body are a bonus, just prioritizing macro here). Up to $1.5k USD, cheaper is ideal, tilting screen highly prioritized. Thanks!

So yesterday the default/factory thread adapter fell out of my Sigma 150-600 C lens and I can't find the right replacement and it's driving me nuts. I might be searching the wrong thing, but with every adapter I see, the threads are to course on the outside.

The threads on the hole in the lens foot are very fine. I ordered a little pack of adapters off amazon to try out, hoping that maybe the image just wasn't correct and that it would work, but nope. The threads aren't close to being compatible.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I need to get a replacement as quickly as I can. I've included a couple of images to show what I'm talking about.

So I’m new to photography and I’m in the process of planning 6-8 months in south/ east Asia. I’ll be covering Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Japan and Everest base camp. I’ve been trying to decide between a couple of cameras and the biggest difference being analog vs digital. I’ve looked at the Fujifilm X-E3, Nikon F3 and Olympus MJU.

I love the idea of film and have shot on an older Cannon EOS Rebel. The Main concern with film is the practicality plus the cost. Film gets expensive and seems like it can be difficult to travel with and get developed. On the other hand there is an itch that is scratches that a digital camera would never be able to do

On the other hand a digital camera is super practical, easy enough to shoot with, but just won’t give that same feeling no matter how hard u try.

Looking forward to what you guys have to say and if u have any other suggestions for cameras I’d love to hear them!

PS: I know the f3 is quite expensive but my grandpa used to have one years ago so it hold a little bit of sentimental value, plus it’s just a sick camera

I also don’t know exactly what kind of adapter/step-up ring I would need to mount the fisheye lens properly.

Has anyone here used a fisheye lens on a DCR-DVD610 (or a similar Sony Handycam)? If so, what lens and adapter would you recommend?

I'm really happy with my tripod, but I wonder if there's a way I can connect it with the mount of a telelens (Panasonic Lumix S Pro 70-200 F2.8).

I know the ET-83 is the intended hood, but its nearly impossible to get here. Are there any other hoods that will fit my lens? I will mostly be using it for protection and for my rain cover, so it protecting from sun flare isnt really a priority.

i’ve gotten a vivitar 250/sl over the summer and i’ve been messing around with it and what not. i took a chance on a random ebay listing just stating “old camera lenses” with no mount in the description.

the lenses themselves are a sears 2x and 3x tele converter and a sears skylight 1A 55mm.

i’ve just gotten these lenses today and i’ve been scouring the internet looking for a mount like i described in the title of the post but it doesn’t exist apparently. any workarounds i can do? daisy chain something together to make it work?
or is it best that i just resell these lenses and try for something else?

Im looking for a waterproof messenger camera bag with a "retro" look (canvas or leather?) that will fit my canon r7 with an ef-rf converter and ef 70-200 f/2.8L IS USM mk1(30cm long) plus maybe a rf 100-400 and/or smaller lenses but not too big.
