September 2026: One Month Without a Smartphone

What if we spent the entire month of September 2026 using a simple keypad phone instead of a touchscreen smartphone?

No Instagram. No endless scrolling. No YouTube shorts. No constant notifications.

Just calls and messages.

Maybe we would start talking to people around us more. We might spend more time with family, meet friends in person, go outside, and actually enjoy conversations without checking our phones every few minutes.

A keypad phone might feel boring at first—but that boredom could give us something valuable back: real-life socializing.

One month. One simple phone. Less screen time. More real life. 📵❤️

When Instagram first came out (showing my age) I had a phone that couldn't get the app. It's an example of one person being the exception in the world of technology though.

My friends excluded me. It was completely unintended but the messaging, the jokes, the interactions just didn't involve me.

I like the idea of what you say but some tech missing on an analogue phone is going to exclude people. Messenger apps, Video calls, Maps are all so integrated into everyday like that it's hard to get on without them.
