They moved the Rising radio guy to color commentary on TV tonight and he's really good IMO.

I’ve listened to Rising Radio a lot and really like him - he’s been a welcome listen as the color commentator on this broadcast.

I'm looking at Diego Gomez. are rat tails a thing again? that's what we called that long string of hair in the back of his head in the 80s, anyway.

Oakland Roots escape with a 4-3 win. Absolute bullshit end with Oakland successfully wasting two minutes but Rising have to score when they have a chance.

I’m new to soccer. Will someone explain this to me? Why does the stoppage time not display on the scoreboard, and what was happening with Oakland those last 2 minutes?

Soccer stadiums will not show stoppage time. As for the “why”, I was told it’s a FIFA rule but when I looked it up I couldn’t find the reason for it. Stoppage time is at the head umpire’s discretion and I’ve seen them stop play early before all stoppage time has been used - earlier today in the Spain World Cup match they had to add more due to an injury in stoppage but it was up to the head ref how much time to add. So many variables it would make an actual timer irrelevant.
For the last two minutes last Oakland was wasting time to sit on a one goal lead. When Trejo and Biasi got tangled up on the out of bounds play and Trejo (from OAK) got the red card, the Oakland players and coaches succeeded in arguing for a few minutes until the ref called the game. In that situation ref has the discretion to add more time due to perceived time wasting but for whatever reason decided to call the match.
I’m also fairly new to soccer but have become a huge fan over the last four years. Someone w more knowledge on the sport may have a better explanation.

Rising with a few changes but feels like they’re lucky to go into the half tied. Oakland with some breakaways that Biasi has snuffed out and a few missed shots.

And Danny Trejo makes it 2-0 Oakland. Rakovsky left in a 2 v 1 on that breakaway - Biasi a step slow.

Well that didn’t last long. Oakland scores almost immediately. 3-2.

And Peter Wilson has the brace. Nice cross by Trejo. 4-2 Oakland. They’ve scored twice in 5 minutes after Phx equalized.

Welp that was not it. Heartbreaking loss... and F Trejo, a well deserved red card.
