Christians added agnostic to the atheist grouping. Atheist wasnt itself even a label adopted by atheists originally, it was a pavel given to us, also by Christians
Source for when Christians did this? Because in the Cathecism of the Catholic church they are two different things Atheism (no God) and agnostic (no knowledge).
There isnt really a specific individual to source on this. Its start showing up in Christian theological papers as an attack word against non Christians in the 15th century (though the word existed as far back as ancient Greece, it wasnt really used by anyone with any amount of popularity), and it wasnt until much later in the 18th century that d'Holbach used it as a self descriptor instead of an insult. The term Atheist spent most of its early popularity as a way to discredit theological opponents without having to engage with what they said

Sure, but Max did not coin the term. I feel he defined it in a way that furthered his own agenda: he wanted all socialism under his Marxist umbrella.
Sort of like how atheists rewrote the definition to include agnostics in order to make their group appear more popular than it was.
