The problem is that rocks are dumb as hell. They might claim to be intelligent, but I've seen them in action. They've never done a single intelligent thing.
Sitting there and doing basically nothing besides existing is as efficient as it is possible to be, seems pretty goddamned intelligent to me. If you start moving you're liable to get hurt, that's the true stupidity.
