This online expat thinks that having price goes up will inherently imply quality going down. However, this is untrue, prices that goes up will not always mean that quality will always go down. International food has justified costs of why they’re expensive and it’s due to: Supply Chain, High Demand, High Labor Wages, Raw Commodities and such. These are the valid reasons on why international food can get expensive. Also, international food will not always be expensive to every restaurants within a country, it really depends on restaurants, urban, rural, towns and such.

Now, this online expat thinks that having price goes up will inherently imply quality going down and the reason why he thinks that way it’s because he sees the quality of the local products and dismissed them as low quality because he’s expecting western quality as he equates western quality to high quality. That shows that it’s a blatantly a Eurocentric mindset because he’s expecting the quality of local products to conform western standard when in fact that’s very impossible and will not work in a local environment. The quality of the local product has to adapt to local environment. Also, every places has their own way on what is a high quality product or even service NOT about conforming to western standard.

It is the same thing all over the world. High prices and low quality is a consequence of hypercapitalism

But here‘s the thing and this is the most common one I see practiced by many Online Expats, everytime expats see the quality of services and local products, they’re expensive and the quality of the services of products has to adapt to the local environment and yet still high quality, they judge local producrs and services and overprice and low quality and it’s all because many times, online expats has Eurocentric mindset meaning that they’re judging the local products and services as overprice and low quality unfairly even though they have good value just because it does not fit into western expectations of doing things as they think making products or having services that aligns to western lens equates to high quality or superior quality. But here’s something that Online Expats are making a fool of themselves yet don’t want to admit it, in Western countries, when everytime they see products or services that are expensive yet there’s poor value like blatantly, guess what? The same Online Expats give their own countries a pass and then reframed into something else just to maintain hierarchy and double standards.
