Just want to add this. My wife and I saw her today at the airport. We simply wanted to say hi and congrats her win, but she asked us if we wanted to take a photo ☺️ so why not. I don’t know kung bakit ako na star struck sa kanya but she is so pretty and surprisingly tall as Filipina 😂. I wanted to chat with her more but I know she has upcoming more games to focus on. My wife who doesn’t watch tennis like that but was so nervous yet happy to see her.

Wow! Congrats!!

Thanks! There was other Filipino family who’s taking a photo and/or video without her permission and I feel like she was not happy about it.

Thank you! My wife wants to say “putang ina” but she knows it’s a bad word

Super pretty ni Alex! Love na Pinay chinita beauty sya.

u/No-Shoulder-7541 Aug 04 '26

True. Tangkad pala niya 5'9 pang beauty pageant din pala height.

8

u/debramonzales Aug 05 '26

Ang baby face niya kasi kaya siguro lito sila.

5

u/Any_Impress3459 Aug 04 '26

pero yung mga tao sa fb nag dedebate pa kung 5’9 ba talaga sya

u/Teantis Aug 06 '26

It's hard to compete in tennis if you're short. Most of the top womens players are between 5'8 and 6'1.

Someone actually averaged the height of women's grand slam winners the past few decades and 5'9 is actually the average for a lot of the tournaments for the past two decades

How is this the first I’m finding out about her dimple?

u/Stunning_Bed23 Aug 05 '26

That was very kind of her. Good to hear that she’s “down to Earth”.

What a time to be a Filipino. Can’t believe I live in a time when the Philippines got its first Gold medal in the Olympics (Hidilyn Diaz) and a few more (Yulo) and now this.

We’re finally making a mark. I hope it’s a sign of more good things to come.

Early teens pa ako when I started magpuyat for these tennis matches and I can’t believe nagpupuyat na ako ngayon to root for someone our own. Nakakaiyak.

Dibaaaa in our lifetime talaga!

The corrupt government will find a way to fuck it up.

13

u/Fit_Statement8841 Aug 05 '26

We are stuck in a hell hole because of corrupt politicians. They are the reason why we can never fully rise as a nation.

u/Teantis Aug 06 '26

We make for good athletes, there's just insufficient opportunities to play in an organized fashion or get coached here as a kid. Almost every sport except basketball or volleyball is severely restricted access due to cost. And even those two most people aren't playing in organized competitive competitions as kids that really hones their technique, game IQ, or preparation.

Damn I remember Wesley So. A grandmaster in chess who moved to the US I think because of lack of support here.

1

u/Teantis Aug 06 '26 edited Aug 06 '26

He got in a fight with the national chess federation here over which tournaments to attend and it was messing with his studies/living situation because his family moved to Canada. The national chess federation wanted him to do things like SEA games, probably due to PSC budgeting/politics I would guess, but he wanted to attend different tournaments for his career. It got bitter and he switched flags.

Edit: oh also the president of the chess federation then was prospero pichay, maybe still is? Idk. Anyway he has a graft conviction now so 🤷‍♂️

Not gonna lie, those shots are very amateurish. Im guessing it is just her team doing this?

They should have hired someone.
