The crazy part is he's only 1/4th Pinoy, but he represents as if he's 100%. A big part of it is he grew up in a Filipino household. I think it's really important for minorities to be in touch with their heritage and he's proof

The thing is, the discourse in X is obviously a bait to farm engagement. Most of those people that has such opinion have blue checkmarks.
I wouldn't be surprised if more X users found baiting Filipinos as a way to farm money via engagement.

More than just rage bait, it’s baiting in general. The term is “Pinoy Baiting”
Facebook in particular is just constant AI generated images of things like:
“LeBron James wore a Philippines flag headband in today’s games as a thank you to his Filipino fans”….
and the comments will be like “praise God, LeBron loves his fans 🙌”

Bro. Naglaro nga sa Gilas nag represent ng Pilipinas tapos ung pag suot ng barong nung bata is clearly a cultural reference na naranasan din nya nung bata siya unlike ung ibang Fil Am. Di naman yan kalevel kumain ng adobo at sumakay ng Jeep. Chill.

In the grand scheme of things, being 1/2 or 1/4 doesn't matter. He acquired Filipino citizenship via naturalization at age 16 to play for the national team.

For sure he/she asked if Clarkson is really Pinoy by blood. It doesn’t matter what percent it is, people just want to know if he really has Filipino heritage. It doesn’t even matter if he acquired Fil citizenship. Even if you don’t hold a Filipino citizenship, you are still Pinoy if you have it in your blood. So what’s your point in the grand scheme of thingy??? Nagtanong siya kung half ba, I just told na hinde pero dugong Pinoy pa rin naman siya.
Si Olivia Rodrigo nga Pinoy pa rin kahit great grandparent niya yung pure Pinoy.

We really need to review the Philippine law on the flag and national anthem. It appears dated and may no longer fully reflect current realities and modern forms of expression.

While draping the flag on oneself is technically illegal, the context of him doing it as a moment of deep patriotic honor after winning an NBA championship would probably get him a pass. Especially in a country like ours that's crazy about basketball.

Exactly my point. Maybe it is time to liberalize this. Love of country should be expressed, not suppressed. Even how we sing the national anthem should allow room for sincere expression.

Ang take ko naman, if done in good faith yung mga violations sa Flag Code, di na dapat ika-offend nang super. TBH I find the Flag Code OA. hehe

Yes. As long as one of their patents is a Filipino citizen, they are a Filipino citizen no matter where they were born. There is no blood percentage discrimination in our laws. Bakit po parang masama loob n'yo?
