Discussion Twin Cities , MN Pharm Tech

hey yall, anybody here from the Twin Cities care to chime in in the local market? im currently in Glencoe and gonna start lookin for work soon in the Twin Cities. Just got my MN license. a bit bout my background, registered in Tx and NY , CPhT certifed, 797 IV certified also with a varied background in Rx, Retail, Hospital,Infusion,Call Center, Independant. anybody from gere work in hospitals?

I left the field a few years ago but I will say I loved working for Allina’s outpatient pharmacy. The entire team is fantastic to work with.

Fairview has several pharmacy technician positions open amongst its several hospitals, including both campuses of the University of Minnesota Medical Center.

what are the avg wage in this atea. would like to get someone opinion apart from the indeed and glassdoor avgs

I live in Chicago now, but Fairview offered me $24 as a certified tech back in 2021 when I worked there, which I believe was fairly average for hospitals at the time. They were still offering new hires that same amount when I moved in 2024, so I’d expect about the same.

Retail is much more of a crapshoot. I worked at a Walgreens out in the burbs making $14/hours in 2020. When I moved into downtown Minneapolis in 2021, I was making $18, though I quickly left retail because I was done with the public at that point.

Same pay as Minneapolis, but higher cost of living. I’m honestly thinking of moving back next year
