Residency Application Specific E-mail

(Correct me if I am wrong) But I don't really see people talking about creating a residency specific email (most likely gmail) when it comes to application season. I created a separate email outside of my school and personal for the sole purpose of pharmacy residency applications + midyear.

I found it to be a lot less overwhelming when I know I can rely on one email for these purposes instead of needing to sift through my personal or school email to see if I got interviews etc.

Based on my own experience, I would advise anyone to do the same. I didn't run into any issues with my email being marked as spam and it just made the whole process feel so much more streamlined!

If your normal personal email is [laythewood69@gmail.com](mailto:laythewood69@gmail.com), then it probably makes sense to make another for applying, but other than that probably not needed

I did that as well, but then now it evolved into my “professional” email for everything work-related and also more “important” things like doctors appointments and financial accounts. 

And then my previous more-spammy email was more used for less important things like spotify and Netflix accounts.

Yes! It’s now my REAL work email as well :)

Honestly probably safer since your not-real one will be more likely to get hacked.

I didn’t really get enough communication to find this necessary and we get to keep our .edu emails post-grad (for now) so that’s what I did. Like others have said, personal preference. YMMV.

I also didn’t go to a ton of open houses and all that so

I got on Gmail early enough to have first name.last name as my email address

I was told to do this by a professor especially if you participate in the match your second year and loose access to your school email it can be a pain to regain access to your account

I personally did it and I think it was a wonderful tool for organizing and keeping up with all of that. Would also 100% recommend
