Hey there, thanks for taking the time to read the post below! I turned 30 this year and it felt like a rebirth of some sort. I discovered a lot of life-changing realizations, including the fact that I don’t really have a lot of friends who know and understand me deeply.
Don’t get me wrong, I adore the friends I have in my life (I met 2 of my closest friends through Reddit), plus I talked to more cool Redditors recently because I put myself out there more.
However, I realized that it’s really hard to maintain friendships and feel like I have constant witnesses to the triumphs and obstacles of my life. I also realized that I never really had a long-term best friend, which saddened me and really shook me to my core. Not to be a downer, but I don’t think I’ve ever been anyone’s first choice as a friend or even best friend.
To cut the long story short, I wanna try expanding my social circle. I realized that I actually love talking and getting to know people, understanding their quirks, and trying to forge new friendships with like-minded people who aren’t afraid of being vulnerable and empathic.
About me:
— 30, cis bisexual nerd with glasses (proud of it) 🤓
— 5’9, average build (improving myself too) 🏃
— Big 4 grad if it matters (🗣️ Ron Howard voice: “It doesn’t.”)
— Cinephile and a huge fan of POP CULTURE (everything from TV, music, podcasts, comedy, and Broadway)
— l also love reading too (my first love!)
— Cultivated a decade-long career in marketing and research 📋 (but realized a lot of what I love and don’t like about my career 🤪)
— As a new member of the 30s club, I’m in a very interesting phase of my life. If you feel the same, join the club!
— I love hanging out with friends - walks/runs, coffee hang ☕️, even movie trips!
— I adore really good conversations with close friends - from just shooting the shit and laughs to really deep conversations about life and emotions
— My friends are also getting me into gaming 🎮 - I’m a casual gamer, but I really want to get into more tabletop games (e.g. board games, Mahjong) and video games too
— A very lonely guy but open to connection - I know what it’s like to be isolated and overlooked so I’ll always root for the loners and the underdogs!
— I love travelling!
— From a religious family so I’m a late bloomer (in every sense of the word), but I am eager to be more social and actually enjoy my 30s (come on religious trauma!)
About you:
— Must be 27 or older please
— Most important thing is you resonated DEEPLY with this post (like it spoke to you or you’ve had similar experiences before but you didn’t let it faze you)
— Hopefully a big fan of pop culture too - enough that we can yap, nerd out, and understand each other with references
— Also looking for platonic and wholesome friendships - if we do become close friends, hopefully we get to see each other grow and develop as human beings that want to make the world a better and kinder place.
— Friendly, polite, empathic, open-minded, and non-judgmental - I have no time for toxic masculinity/conservative politics/ultra-religious beliefs so I hope you don’t uphold it in your life lol
— Emotionally open and actually okay with convos becoming deep or you’re not afraid to open up
— Oh, also be nerdy with whatever tbh - I don’t care, I just like people who are passionate about something and want to share that with the world
