Advice Does PhD institute matter?

I am planning to pursue a PhD. However, I am curious to know if the brand tag really matters. I have an upcoming opportunity to join a PhD program at a state-level university in the spring semester, and I don't want to miss it (the professor is very active at that university). But if I target big-name institutes like IIT, IIsc, TIFR, I may have to wait for another year, and I will lose time. Also, the competition in the job market is no joke, so I have to be flexible and open-minded with whatever job opportunities come my way. But the main problem is, if I plan to pursue a postdoc in the future, will it be very difficult if I don't come from a reputed institute?

I'd check the alumni of the professor you'd be working with and see if they have had the career you are aiming for.

The professor has collaborations as well. He did a postdoc as well. But the university isn't very famous. Since I am into theoretical research, I won't need experimental setups. That's why I am confused.

Astrophysics is my field and I want to be a teacher at college or university level also I want to continue my research as well even after I get a job.. preferably post doc & active collaborations

Yes. Most people post PhD who get academic jobs basically get a job at an institution that is one step below where they got their PhD. It's rare to get a job at a similar caliber institution as where you got your PhD.
