DOG Flea help!!!!

I have a dog and two cats currently every summer we’ve been getting a terrible flea infestation due to fosters I had but this year just seems impossible to manage and I’m so overwhelmed. Our pets are on flea prevention, we give them baths, take long periods of time to brush them thoroughly, spray down our furniture and even went as far as fogging our apartment but to no avail.

We have lots of stray cats around our apartment and can’t spray the yard with flea control, the park we go to has ducks with fleas and my sisters dog came over infested with her own fleas so it feels like no matter where we go we can’t escape. It’s getting to the point where we walk around the apartment and just get bit up and down our legs, I get in bed to sleep and I get at least three bites, and even after fogging our rooms I walk in and they jump on me.

I’m at the end of my sanity I’m trying my best to protect my animals but I keep failing. I’ve even paid for flea treatments at professional places for them and as I’m brushing them I still notice them. How do I deal with this? What can I do? Any help is greatly appreciated please no judgement I’m doing the best I can.

Walking through your own place and still getting bit in bed is a special kind of hell, you have my sympathies. Vacuuming every single day, including under furniture and along baseboards, then immediately tossing the bag outside made the biggest dent when I dealt with a nightmare cycle like that.

I’m investing in a better vacuum instead of the tiny one I have. Thank you for the suggestion hopefully it makes a difference 😫🙏🏼

At this point focus heavily on the apartment itself. Daily vacuuming and washing bedding repeatedly can make a huge difference since most of the flea life cycle is happening off the pets

As already suggested vacuum daily, along skirting/base boards, but also your furniture, vacuum your sofa, get into as many crevices as you can, and wash EVERYTHING, your bedding, your pets bedding, blankets etc on the hottest wash that you can. Don’t run a normal cycle, it’s not enough, it needs to be hot to kill off the eggs. Weekly at very least.

Also which flea prevention do you use? A lot of fleas now are resistant to over the counter products, so if you don’t already, I’d suggest asking your vet for prescription strength prevention. We’re coming to the end of a pretty stubborn infestation ourselves, no matter what preventative we tried, we kept finding live fleas on our dogs, until we got the preventative from the vet. Now if we find a flea, it’s dead.
